@YashNaj YashNaj released this 08 Oct 22:16

Builds with Xcode 26 again. 0.1.0 compiled only with Xcode 27, so brew install failed for anyone on Xcode 26.

brew upgrade chauffeur # or: brew install yashnaj/chauffeur/chauffeur

The MCP bundle is unchanged; use the one from 0.1.0.

chauffeur v0.1.0

Let your coding agent drive the iOS Simulator, and tell it the truth about what happened.

What's in it

  • Drive the iOS Simulator from a coding agent: snapshot, tap, type, scroll, wait, find, do, screenshot,
app and device commands, logs, doctor.
  • Every action is verified: changed, NO EFFECT, INTERCEPTED, NOT DELIVERED, UNVERIFIED, APP CRASHED or APP EXITED.
  • MCP server (chauffeur mcp) and an agent skill (chauffeur skill install).
  • Heals the simulator's accessibility when an Xcode session or an early query breaks it.
  • Xcode 26 and 27, iOS 26 and 27 simulators, Apple silicon.

Benchmark

The benchmark ran 15 Simulator tasks, 3 runs each. The agent was Claude Code with either chauffeur's tools or Xcode 27's
own MCP device tools, and nothing else. The full method and every failure are in
docs/benchmark.md.

Install

brew install yashnaj/chauffeur/chauffeur
claude mcp add chauffeur -- chauffeur mcp # or: chauffeur skill install
chauffeur doctor

Homebrew builds it from source, so you need Xcode and Command Line Tools that match your macOS. On macOS 27,
Homebrew refuses to build with older Command Line Tools: update them in Software Update first.

Known limits

  • Simulators only, in portrait, on Apple silicon, with Xcode 26 or 27.
  • chauffeur uses Apple's private simulator frameworks, so an Xcode update can break it. Please open an issue with
    the output of chauffeur doctor.
  • An app opened by tapping its icon, rather than with chauffeur launch, starts with its accessibility server off.
chauffeur says to relaunch it, but doesn't relaunch it by itself yet.
  • Screen text is untrusted input: chauffeur quotes it as data, never as instructions.
