Warcraft CS 0.5.0 adds ready-built Player installation and confirmation before every discovered project update.

Download and start

Download WarcraftCSLauncher.exe, or WarcraftCS-0.5.0-dist.zip for the complete launcher/source/runtime package. Read REQUIREMENTS.md for all prerequisites.

Windows 10/11 x64 and your own Warcraft III 1.26a (Game.dll 1.26.0.6401) and Counter-Strike 1.6 installations are required. Select their folders and a separate Warcraft CS installation folder. No game is downloaded or distributed.

  • Install / Update — Player: uses the embedded project DLLs. Microsoft C++ Build Tools and Windows SDK are not required or downloaded. Python/NumPy are still used to convert models and sounds from your local CS files; missing dependencies are downloaded only after consent.
  • Install / Update — Developer: builds the project locally. It reuses compatible installed tools, or downloads Microsoft C++ Build Tools and Windows SDK after consent. These downloads can take several GB. Pinned MinHook source is obtained for the local build.

The prebuilt Player modules support the bundled Miles export ABI for the supported Warcraft installation. If the launcher reports a different sound-library build, choose Developer to build against your own local library.

Updates

The launcher always checks GitHub releases at startup. The old automatic-install checkbox has been removed. When a newer version is found, a dialog shows its version, release information and installation mode. Choose Update to accept or Not now to keep your installed version.

Updates verify package SHA256 hashes, preserve saves/settings and remembered private sword selection, and refuse installation while Warcraft is running. The launcher replaces itself after setup succeeds. API rate-limit errors (403/429) fall back to the stable GitHub release manifest without requiring a token.

Launchers 0.3.0/0.4.0 can consume this update package. If their older API-only check is temporarily rate-limited, download and run this new EXE manually against your existing private installation.

Included gameplay

This release includes the existing offline FPS mod, seven weapon slots and mouse-wheel weapon switching, scoped AWP, melee and C4, native unit/item interactions and configurable damage/ammunition. Tree targeting uses trunk geometry so the canopy box no longer intercepts shots aimed beside the trunk. The previous release's Miles sound-provider repair is included.

Package and validation

The EXE contains separate audited source and native-runtime payloads. Git and WarcraftCS-sources.zip remain source-only. WarcraftCS-runtime.zip contains only project-built x86 modules, checksums and license notices; original Warcraft DLLs, maps, CS assets, compilers and SDKs are not included.

Launcher and runtime-payload regressions pass. Isolated Player installation/update succeeds with compiler and Build Tools paths forbidden; Developer builds locally. The original 0.3.0 updater accepts the 0.5.0 package. Save/settings sentinels are preserved. Existing tree/wheel gameplay has nine passing C++ suites and isolated in-game validation from 0.4.0; native gameplay is unchanged in this release.

Offline Warcraft III 1.26a only. The launcher is unsigned. Complete campaign/custom-map compatibility and fresh Microsoft tool installation on a clean Windows machine remain unverified.
