Bandminton v0.5.0

This is the first public-source release of Bandminton: a safety-conscious Xiaomi Vela wearable toolchain for right-handed badminton wrist-motion analysis.

Included

  • Vela main app and separate continuous accelerometer collector.
  • Reproducible data recovery, feature extraction, training, validation, and on-device model-packing scripts.
  • A compact four-class trajectory model: forehand overhead, backhand overhead, forehand underhand, and backhand underhand.
  • Session-level structural proportions and conservative, interpretable play-style tendencies.
  • Unit tests, CI, device manifests, model card, safety documentation, and reconstructed historical release records.

Validation boundary

The initial internal controlled-air-swing evaluation reported 90.8% accuracy and 90.7% macro F1 across 130 labelled windows from 13 recordings using leave-one-recording-out validation. A separate held-out mixed-order replay detected and labelled 8 of 8 supplied swings correctly. These are early internal results only, not claims about real matches, other people, left-handed wear, or every Xiaomi wearable.

Compatibility and safety

Only Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Pro has a project validation path. Packages for Band 9, Band 10, and Band 10 Pro remain experimental pending community hardware validation. This release intentionally does not attach RPK files.

Historical context

The repository documents prior local development through retained artifact checksums and release records. It does not rewrite that work into synthetic earlier public Git history.
