Brave is introducing Firefox-like containers and will be the first Chromium-based browser to do so. This paves the way for Cleantainer to make the jump to another browser.
There are some outstanding blockers, however:
- There is not yet an extension API to remove containers, nor delete browsing data from them like Firefox can with the
cookieStoreId selector.
- Container cleanup is currently performed automatically by Brave. Closing all tabs of a container marks it for cleanup, which takes place on the next browser restart.
There are many requests for a "Temporary Container" feature like the Firefox extension of the same name, so watch this space.
