KH 358/2 Days Port 0.1.4
Stop, the magic Days left unfinished, restored; KH2's HD fonts; game modes as mods; smoother sound; HD scenes that flow into the game; and updates from the game itself. Installing it over 0.1.x keeps your saves, settings, mods and the game's data.
Updating from 0.1.3 makes the HD menus again once (a few minutes) and keeps the HD videos you already have, making only the new ones; later updates make again only the HD pieces that changed.
New
- Stop restored (Stop, Stopra, Stopga). Days kept its effect, its animations and its names in two languages, but no panels and no code. Enemies in its reach now stand still for a time that grows with its level, and the damage they take meanwhile lands all at once when it ends. Its panels show an unused clock picture of the game's, take Magic LV and Doublecast like the other magics, and are made at the moogle's shop, dearer than any other magic. It works in multiplayer, where with friendly fire on it also holds the other players. Settings -> General -> Stop magic turns it off: the game is then the DS's, and a save's Stop panels stay in it, unseen. In a room every player must have it the same. Its numbers are in
port/runtime/battle/stop_magic.txt. - HD fonts (thanks @Disgustor, #23). Mods can replace the game's fonts with PNG/JSON fonts screen by screen: the camp, tutorials, mission select, results, commands, shops, items obtained and cutscene speakers. The installer makes KH2's fonts from your 1.5+2.5 copy. Buttons in the text, tutorials included, are drawn as the icons of the inputs you play with.
- Smoother sound. The PC's output reads each channel between its samples instead of holding each one as the DS did, so the metallic edge is gone, and a mix louder than full scale is turned down for a moment instead of crackling. "DS-exact sound" keeps the original.
- Better sound for mods. A replaced sound plays at the PC's rate, files above 48 kHz are filtered down, a file longer than its original plays to its end, and voices are decoded ahead so even the first line is the mod's.
- Game modes as mods (scripting interface 2). Mods can make the field's enemies of any kind, hold back a mission's own enemies and take over the player's defeat. They can start and leave missions, add title entries and screens, read and change the deck, and use timers, music, chance shared by a room and shared state. They can also read the game's memory by address, and write it when the mod declares so; the Mods page says when one does.
mods-exampleshas an endless arena. - Updates from the game. The new-version notice's Download fetches the installer, checks it, updates the game and opens it again.
- START pauses an HD movie with the DS's own scene pause (Continue / Skip).
- HD scenes and movies fade in and out of the game instead of cutting.
- Mod studio: 3D textures can be exported at 1-8x their size, like the 2D sheets.
Fixed
- Scenes: hd833 is split along Xion's fight, each part where the game shows it; no scene plays twice after hd830 and hd836; the scene after an HD scene was skipped (day 71's ice cream after Axel's return); day 193's hd082b now comes before the Destroyer.
- One screen: cutscenes with the 3D on both screens flickered (missions 46, 47, 51, 53 and Sora's memories); the pause menu now follows the HUD's size; after the credits, the HD screens gave way to the DS's until the field.
- Mission 61's end could stop the game.
- Flip Foot now inverts your controls correctly.
- Mods: HD 2D sheets were blurred on screens without 3D and stepped when enlarged; KH2 rooms' skies showed zigzags and patches, or hid the room; a model's vertex transparency is now smooth across each polygon; a mod's enemies could stand invisible; a mod's voices and effects played the original the first time.
- Mod studio: it was silent in folders with accented names (José, Días), and now says why a sound cannot play.
- Settings: antialiasing is off on a new install, with a warning while it is on.
- Installer: the HD pieces failed with "Access denied" when a File Explorer window showed their folder; no empty studio folder; the mods folder is made at install.
For contributors
Pull requests go to the development branch (see CONTRIBUTING).
Installer updated on 2026-10-23: a mod's sound effect or voice longer than the game's original was cut where the original ended; it now plays to its end. If you installed 0.1.4 before, download the installer again and run it.

KH 358/2 Days Port 0.1.3
The theater's music over the HD scenes, Sora's memories on one screen, PC controls by default, KH2's rooms in the studio and many fixes. Installing it over 0.1.x keeps your saves, settings, mods and the game's data.
Updating from 0.1.2 makes the HD pieces again once (menus and videos, if you chose them): 0.1.2 kept the ones 0.1.1 had made, so the HD event scenes were missing after updating.
New
- The theater's music over the HD scenes. The HD event scenes and movies now play with the music the collection's theater plays over them, at the music volume of the settings.
- Sora's memories on one screen. When the lower screen shows Sora's memories (Holo-Mission 61's Guard Armor), a cutscene shows them in place of the main picture while they last, and the battle shows both fights as one: Roxas's half on the left, Sora's on the right.
- PC controls by default. A new install starts with WASD for the D-pad, the left mouse button for A, Space for B, C for X, the right mouse button for Y, Left Shift or Left for L, the middle mouse button or Right for R, M or Enter for START and N for SELECT; in the field the wheel and Q/E move the command menu. Your own settings are kept: Settings -> Controls -> Restore the keyboard's defaults takes the new ones.
- New games start with the Command list on X with the D-pad, so the command menu moves in all four directions.
- Random character in Mission Mode's character select (solo and multiplayer): the "?" tile, or Y, picks one of the characters you have.
- Players' levels on the multiplayer room's members' screen.
- Settings menu: "Quit the game" (asked first) where Close was, and the port's version in the corner.
- Khstudio: turn KH2 rooms from 1.5+2.5 into Days room mods.
- Replaced rooms move. A room a mod replaces plays its own animation in the game -- moving pieces, scrolling and changing textures -- by the game's frames, standing still while the game is paused.
- Mod studio: while a room is replaced, the room's markers are coloured by where they stand on the new room (on its floor, over it, or under or inside it), with a count in the corner; the room's view says which room it shows; a 2D sheet's tile grid can be exported beside its picture.
Fixed
- Lock-on in the battles with Sora's memories did not work: a press could fall on the memory's frames and be lost.
- One screen: the day's panel and the map came back only after visiting the moogle once an event had ended; a tutorial darkened the whole picture; a challenge's mission panel and map were missing.
- Multiplayer: guests moved only in the D-pad's eight directions and could not walk slowly with the stick.
- Pause Retry: its cursor and lines could flicker or show the game's own for a frame.
- Input: a quick press could be lost between two of the game's reads of the pad.
- Badges were missing from the mission panel in missions with no chests (mission 58 and others).
- The mouse pointer stays visible while another window has the focus.
- The settings button's icon in the HD camp and room screens showed the gamepad button's name ("guide") instead of an icon.
- Mods: HD 2D sheets drawn smaller than their pictures looked pixelated; a model's vertex colours' transparency was ignored.
- Mod studio: its HD video player plays the theater's music too, and an export's dialog opens with the item's name.
- Installer: the Start menu shortcut was made as a folder "KH 358" holding "2 Days Port"; Windows could be taken for Wine and leave the Steam steps out; one failing HD tool no longer stops the others (what it said is kept in setup/hd-errors.log).
Installer updated on 2026-10-19: the HD videos are now put in place even when Windows keeps their folder open (a folder in File Explorer's Quick Access), which stopped the HD pieces with "Access denied". If that happened to you, download the installer again and run it.

KH 358/2 Days Port 0.1.2
The HD collection's event scenes in the story, Lua gameplay mods, autosave and more. Installing it over
0.1.x keeps your saves, settings, mods and the game's data.
New
- HD event scenes. With KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX (Steam or Epic Games Store) chosen in the
installer and its HD videos option ticked, every video of the collection's 358/2 Days theater has its
place in the story: the 96 scenes the DS draws in real time play as the theater's HD videos, with their
voices and subtitles, and the game goes on exactly where the DS's scene would have left it. Roxas's diary
monologues get the theater's narration over the DS's page. They follow the movies setting: at HD (the
default) the scenes play in HD, at PC or DS every scene stays the DS's. - START over an HD scene opens the game's own pause: Skip ends the scene as the DS's skip does,
Continue resumes the video. - THEATER MODE lists the HD theater's chapters, with their day, title and length; choose one to watch
it in HD. - Gameplay mods scripted in Lua. Mods react to the game's events and read its state, give items, play
sounds and show notices on the field. A Mods page in the settings menu shows each mod with its options; a
mod can be reloaded while the game runs, and the studio has a console for them. Multiplayer rooms take
only players with the host's gameplay mods. Examples andSCRIPTING.mdcome with the installer. - Autosave. After each cleared mission the game saves itself, into file 99 by default (Settings ->
General -> Autosave: file 99, the file being played, or off), and says so for three seconds. - Retry in the story's challenges, as in Mission Mode, with the challenge's first targets.
- Mouse. Its buttons (left, middle, right, X1, X2) and wheel can be bound to any action, and a mouse
camera turns and tilts the field camera (Enhancements, with its own speed). The mouse no longer acts as
the stylus, and its pointer shows only over the settings menu. - Installer: the Epic Games Store. The collections are found in the Epic Games Store's folders too, and
ROM dumps that differ from the supported one only in the header's unused area are accepted. The HD videos
option now brings all of the theater's videos (about 6.5 GB).
Fixed
- AMD cards and Steam Deck: blank picture. On Direct3D 12 the 2D showed in blocks of colour and the 3D
black. The shaders now read their buffers in a way AMD's cards handle (not yet confirmed on one). Under
Wine or Proton the automatic graphics API is now Vulkan. - Multiplayer: the results screen. After a won mission its upper screen showed vertical stripes.
- Two screens after an HD video. The game's screens came out small in a corner until the window changed.
- HD videos. A crash when a movie closed (Vulkan), and a video that barely moved while a gamepad sent
input. - One screen: challenge and Holo-Mission labels. In a replayed mission's events the label was drawn
large towards the middle; it is now in the top left corner at the HUD's size, in play and in cutscenes.

KH 358/2 Days Port 0.1.1
A hotfix for 0.1.0. Installing it over 0.1.0 keeps your saves, settings, mods and the game's data.
Fixed
- Cutscenes: the fade between camera shots. For the moment a shot faded into the next, the
picture dropped to the DS's resolution and narrowed with blue bars at the sides (or, on one screen
with a small HUD, shrank over black). The fade is now made at the port's resolution and width. - One screen: talking to people. A talk's box (Saïx's, the moogle's) was cut into the two bottom
corners. It now shows whole, as event dialogs do. - One screen: the moogle's shop. Its panels were scattered over the field. It now shows the two
screens side by side, like the camp's shop. - One screen: dialogs and the HUD size. Dialogs follow the HUD size setting down (a smaller HUD
makes them smaller) and never grow past the DS's size. - Installer: the HD collections are optional. Leaving a collection's folder empty gave the error
"You must enter a full path with drive letter". Both folders now say "(optional)" and can be left
empty. - Installer: trimmed ROM dumps. A dump cut after the game's data (smaller than 256 MiB) was
refused. It is now recognised as the same ROM, and the data made from it is identical.

KH 358/2 Days Port 0.1.0
The first public release of the native PC port of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days: the game is
the khdays-decomp decompilation's C, compiled
for Windows x64, with the platform around it written for the PC.
Warning
The port is a work in progress and may have bugs. Reports are very welcome, in the
issues or on
Discord: what happened and what you were doing when it did.
What you need
- Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) and a graphics card with Direct3D 12 or Vulkan.
- Your own copy of the game: the European release of KINGDOM HEARTS 358/2 Days. Nothing of the
game comes with the port; if KH Melon Mix keeps a copy in your KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX
folder, the installer finds it. - Optional: your KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX and HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, for the
HD pack.
Installing
Download KH358-2-Days-Port-Setup-0.1.0.exe and run it. It checks your ROM and prepares the
game's data from it, and can also make the HD pack from your collections, add the port to Steam
and install the mod studio.
What's in it
- The whole game: Story Mode, Mission Mode, combat and magic, the shop, and your saves, now
up to 99 files. - Controls: keyboard, mouse or gamepad, all remappable, with optional enhancements (an
analog camera, lock-on on its own buttons, the command menu on the D-pad). - Picture: drawn by the port on the graphics card at up to eight times the DS's resolution,
in widescreen or on one screen, with texture smoothing and antialiasing. - HD pack, made from your own collections: the HD theater's title and menus, the save list,
the camp and the theater's chapters, and the HD videos with their subtitles in five languages. - Mods: textures, 2D graphics, models (glTF and FBX), sounds, texts and movies, and KH
Studio to make them. - Mission Mode multiplayer: two to four players on one PC, a local network or the internet
through a matchmaking server (khdays-server comes with the game). - A settings menu, five languages, Steam as a non-Steam game, and a notice when a newer release
is out.
Known limits
- Windows x64 only for now; Linux, macOS and Switch are planned.
- The Steam Deck (through Proton) is supported by the installer but not yet tested on one.
- Playing over a local network between two PCs is built but not yet tried.
Thanks
To @DaniKH1, @TheSoraHD and SuperSora22 (Discord) for their support and their testing.
And to the KH Melon Mix team (vitor251093,
justedni, Kite2810 and its contributors), whose idea of letting everyone play the Kingdom Hearts
DS games without trouble is where all of this started.
