Toolbar issues as a Druid?

Hello i didnt immediately want to open a bug report, but since a few Mod Updates during the last 1-3 Days (i update this mod every day), i have the Issue that every time transform into Wildshape with my druid, the hotbar gets messy.
After i transform back into Humanform, this happens: see pictures below:

And this is it after i cancel Wildshape each time:

It started to behave like this, only when i died or got downed, which was kind of ok for me, but now it's after every Wildshape 😭
Anyone having the same issue?
( i also use Better hotbar : Vova's Edition, but it never acted like this before and i use both mods activated for months now in several playthroughs)

Thanks for the detailed report — the two pictures make it very clear what's going on.

This is on our side, not Better Hotbar. In commit fafcb9f (shipped two days ago) I turned WildShapeHotBar off for the WildShapeKeepName, DragonShape and DragonShape_10 shapeshift rules, so those forms now keep the regular hotbar instead of the restricted Wild Shape one.

That change was needed to fix #1193 and #1198: Circle of Dragons druids could not use part of their spellbook while transformed — Wall of Fire and Elemental Exhalation gave no targeting overlay at all, and the follow-up actions of Call Lightning and Moonbeam never reached the bar, disappearing again every time they were dragged there from the character sheet.

What you are running into looks like a consequence of that. Your humanoid form and your Wild Shape form do not have the same default spell group, and now that both use the regular hotbar, switching between them makes the game lay the bar out for the other form's set of spells. Coming back out of Wild Shape leaves it arranged that way rather than the way you had sorted it.

Putting the old behaviour back would take spellcasting away from those forms again, which is the worse of the two problems, so this is going to stay as it is — adapting to it is honestly the practical answer here.

In the meantime, the other categories of the hotbar are filled in by the game itself, so they are not rearranged by this. If you reach your abilities through those categories rather than through a row you sorted by hand, the sorting stops mattering and there is nothing left to get scrambled when you shift back.
