0.15.3
This release lets you choose no partner where you choose the partner (Issue #55).
- LEVEL SELECT: the PARTNER card offers NONE after the characters, with 1 player in the five attractions. That practice level then plays without a partner, like a classic Sonic game: the partner is sent away the way the game itself does it, there is no ring tether, and the camera follows you alone. Your OPTIONS > GAMEPLAY setting comes back when the session ends.
- Lobby shortcuts: OPTIONS > EXTRAS > LOBBY SHORTCUTS > PARTNER can be CATCHER, any character, or NONE. With NONE, the attractions are played alone in story mode; the partner still walks with you in the lobby. Progress saves as usual.
- Not changed:
- NONE is the same as the PARTNER SOLO option added in 0.12.0 (OPTIONS > GAMEPLAY). Holding CALL (A) for half a second still brings the partner back for that life.
- Awards pause and speedrun bests aren't kept while it is in use, as with SOLO.
- TIME ATTACK always plays the original game, so it doesn't offer NONE.
Thanks to @TramplinStu for the suggestion.
Validation:
- Windows: all 118 CTest cases pass. New tests:
- LEVEL SELECT with NONE plays Botanic Base 1 with no partner or ring drawn, and the GAMEPLAY setting comes back when the session ends.
- The lobby shortcut NONE plays the attraction alone.
- NONE is offered only where it applies, and it travels to a netplay guest with the host's settings.
- Lockstep holds in every one.
- Lockstep: all 33 sweep runs with random input are bit-identical.
- macOS (M1): all 115 CTest cases pass and lockstep is bit-identical on arm64.
- Linux: all 115 Linux CTest cases pass.
- Packages: the packaged Windows and Linux builds pass the startup tests.
- Android: the APKs have not been tested on a device for this release.
Downloads: the Windows x64 zip, the Linux x64 tar.gz, the macOS arm64 zip, the iOS .ipa, and two Android APKs: arm64-v8a/x86_64 (the usual one) and armeabi-v7a (32-bit ARM). Both APKs use version code 42 and the same signing certificate as 0.15.2, so they update in place.
You must supply your own Knuckles' Chaotix (Japan, USA) ROM. No ROM image or game assets are included.
