Terms used across the repo and this wiki, with the Chinese term the docs use.
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| animatic (animatic,灰盒预演) | A full-length grey-box preview, at draft quality, with real or placeholder audio. It judges pacing only (does every read have time to land?) and goes into gate ②'s review page. Optional at standard, required at studio. |
| beat map (节拍表) |
music.beats.json: sections, beats, downbeats, hits, and bars when the meter changes. bin/vh music writes it exactly; bin/vh beats measures it from outside music. Narration, cuts and SFX snap to it. |
| checkpoint (检查点,E0–E5) | An extra stop that director mode can add between the gates: E0 style frames, E1 script, E2 sound, E3 timing lock, E4 sample chapter, E5 picture lock. You stop at one only when you own a decision due there, or ask for it by name (stop=E3). |
| colour tags (色彩标签) | The four fields in an mp4 (matrix, transfer, primaries, range) that tell a player how to decode its colours. The repo delivers limited-range BT.709 with all four written; without them, browsers and ffmpeg disagree and saturated colours shift. |
| concept (立意) | The one-line device that makes a film's form tell its content, such as "the 3 seconds after Enter, slowed to 2 minutes, a clock always on screen". It comes before style; if it still works on another subject, it is only a style. See How It Works. |
| concept card (立意卡) | One of the 2–3 options at gate ①: the concept, why this material, the subject, the opening and ending, the look and sound it leads to, the hook, the risks, and one frame (a 10–20 s sketch at studio). Picking a card settles the concept, the look and the hook together. |
| contact sheet (联系表) | A grid of rendered frames with timestamps (bin/vh sheet). Shows composition and the overall shape of a film at a glance. |
| crop | A full-resolution detail (a face, a hand, a glow) for what a sheet is too small to show. |
| cue check | Checking that every beat-map hit and SFX event has an audible onset in the final mix within one frame. Part of bin/vh qa. |
decision (决定,own / review / delegate) |
One of the twelve things director mode lets you name: concept, spec, outline, style, main character, theme music, voice, script, hook, storyboard, edit rhythm, title and cover. own: the agent shows options with a recommendation and waits. review: it shows one result and carries on unless you object. delegate: it decides and writes down why in DECISIONS.md, the project's ledger of who decided what. |
| determinism (确定性) | The same t always gives the same frame. Tested on lossless PNG frames: pixel-identical, or ≥ 45 dB PSNR with no visible difference. |
| digital silence (数字静音) | Every channel below −60 dBFS for 20 ms or more. Mid-film it fails QA, because viewers hear it as the player stalling. |
| director mode (导演模式) | The setting for which decisions are yours. It is separate from effort (how hard the agent checks its own work): "quick, but I'll pick the hook" makes sense. Set it in the chat, on the Director: line of BRIEF.md or in LOCAL.md. It only adds stops; the three gates stay. |
| duck, ducking (让位,ducking) | Lowering the music while someone speaks (side-chain compression). Without a profile bin/vh mix defaults to duck=voice with duck_ratio=1.6; a profile mix instead rides the music line by line to a target VMR. |
| effort (努力程度) |
quick, standard (default) or studio: how many gates, review rounds and how much polish a film gets. |
| floor (底线) | A rule that holds for every concept and effort level: what keeps a film legible, correct and safe (text size and reading time, the safe area, facts, no placeholders, no digital silence in a film with sound, flash limits). The checklist tags these items; everything else is a taste default. |
| foley (拟音) | Sound effects tied to on-screen actions, placed on the action's frame and panned from its position on screen. |
| fresh-context reviewer (独立 reviewer) | A new agent session that reviews and scores a draft from frames alone, without the author's notes. |
| gate (关卡) | One of the three points where the agent stops for your approval: concept and outline, storyboard, first draft. |
| held breath (屏息) | How a dramatic pause is made: a low bed keeps playing and the camera drifts slowly, so nothing goes dead. The opposite of digital silence. |
| hook | What makes a viewer stop in the first 2 seconds; one of the 8 scored dimensions. |
| look-dev | When feedback is vague: 2–3 variants of one 10–20 s segment that differ in a single preset variable (for example effects intensity A, B or C). You pick a direction instead of describing it. |
| LUFS | Loudness units relative to full scale. Mixes are brought to −14 LUFS integrated, with the true peak under −1.5 dBTP, measured after the AAC encode. |
| mix profile (混音 profile) |
explainer, short, promo, cartoon, mv or swatch: the levels for bin/vh mix … profile=, with voice, music and effects all measured from one anchor, the narration's median line or, when there is no narration, the music. |
mix report (混音报告,qa mix) |
The part of bin/vh qa that reads a profile mix's stems: the VMR of every line, words at risk of being masked, each effect against its class, the depth of each bus. |
| motif (动机) | A short musical phrase defined once in a score and reused, changed, in other places. |
| preset (风格预设) | A style in styles/<slug>/: STYLE.md, tokens.json and a swatch. A reference, not a template: --style or bin/vh style apply copies it into the project's style-refs/, and what the film borrows is one line in DECISIONS.md. |
| pumping (抽吸) | The music level dipping again and again as a ducker reacts. bin/vh qa flags dips over 4 dB lasting 60 ms or more. |
| reads (reads) | The things a viewer must understand in a shot, in order, each with a start and end time. They set the shot's length; two important reads never overlap; a read gets at least 0.5 s (12 frames at 24 fps). |
| recipe (镜头配方) | A file in recipes/ on how one shot or seam moves: phases in frames, critical values, pitfalls, the frames to check. A style gives the skin, a recipe the bones. bin/vh recipes list finds one. |
| review page (审阅页) | The local HTML page bin/vh review makes at every stop: the decisions first, each with a recommendation, then pictures, options and, for the storyboard, one page per section. |
| scored review (打分层) | A fresh-context reviewer scores the draft on 8 dimensions from 1 to 10 (concept first, then hook, target-screen readability, motion, variety, polish, accuracy, sync); each one must reach 8. |
| SFX class (音效分级) | hero, detail, ambience or signal: where a sound effect sits against the anchor. It comes from the event's role, or from the sound's name. |
| skeleton (全片骨架) | A file in recipes/sequences/ with the energy arc, holds, seams and limits for a whole film. Three follow an energy arc; five start from a concept. |
| strip | Consecutive frames at a fixed step (0.1–0.15 s) across a key motion or a cut, read left to right the way a viewer would. Shows timing. |
| swatch (样片) | The 5-second sample rendered for each style preset, with a soundtrack of its own. All 31 show the same content. |
| taste default (默认口味) | Any rule that is not a floor: the type docs' registers and beat orders, the BRIEF's motion defaults, the recipes, the presets, the checklist's untagged items. A concept may override one, with a line in DECISIONS.md written before the scene that uses it. |
| timeline (时间表) |
timeline.<lang>.json: the measured start and end of every narration line, plus word timings when --align gemini is used. |
| variant (音效 variant) | One version of a built-in sound effect. Each event gets its own, a step along a walk for that sound through the film, so repeats differ slightly; "variant": n pins one, and signal sounds never vary. |
| VMR (voice minus music, 人声减音乐) | How many loudness units (LU) the voice sits above the music while it speaks, line by line. Each mix profile has a target (11.5 LU for short) and a floor under which qa fails. |
| Watch on (在哪看) | The BRIEF line that says where the film is mainly watched: phone, feed (a landscape film in a phone feed) or desktop. It sets the smallest text size and how wide the readability check scales the frames. |
