MWOMechScraper
FIXES!
With PGI renaming the display name of the Viper Scaleshot from "VPR-DI(LGD)" to "VPR-SCS(LGD)" there was a bug that my tool was not correctly finding the Scaleshot as it would be comparing "vprscslgd" from the PGI player JSON to the mechDB JSON which has it listed as "vprdilgd". This has been fixed and the tool now properly displays the tonnage information, weight class, faction and number of skill points associated with your Scaleshot.
What MWOMechScraper does:
- Creates an unsorted .csv file of your mech data (equivalent to looking at your 'Mech stats on MWOMercs)
- Creates a sorted .csv file of 'Mechs you have the most games in (descending order)
- Creates a sorted .csv file of 'Mechs you have the most time in (descending order)
- Creates a .csv file of your owned 'Mechs, the name you gave them, and the number of skill points that 'Mech has equipped
(This can be useful for finding a substitute player in a short amount of time in Competitive play)
- Creats a .csv file mapping all players on a team to the 'Mechs they own for easier understanding of who owns what 'Mechs on the team.
Note that MWOMechScraper does require your log-in credentials to MWOMercs.com to be able to collect all the necessary information if the "Online" buttons are used. It does not log your credentials anywhere and also hides your password shown on the screen using the python library maskpass. However, please feel free to read the source code and ensure that the tool is not doing anything malicious and that the only sites it is requesting access to are the official MWOMercs pages.
MWOMechScraper accepts a credentials file (creds.txt) that is stored in the same directory as it.
Simply make a file name creds.txt with the following lines so you don't have to type your credentials in each time;
email=YourEmailHere@wherever.com
password=YourPasswordHere
MWOMechScraper also makes requests to the MechDB API to get information about each 'Mechs tonnage, the faction it is associated with [Inner Sphere, Clan] and their weight class [Light, Medium, Heavy, Assault] and adds that information to the owned_mechs_SP.csv.
