v1.4.0
Nudge now pops up exactly when Claude Code would ask, not only for commands on your pattern list. It also works with Codex.
What's new
- Claude's own prompts come through. Nudge answers Claude Code's
PermissionRequesthook, so anything Claude would ask about shows up in the menu bar, in every permission mode that asks (notdontAsk). Patterns still work as an "ask me anyway" list for things Claude wouldn't ask about. - Codex support. Codex approval requests show up labeled Codex. Allow and Deny go back to Codex. Stopping a Codex turn clears the prompt, and a prompt left unanswered for 2 minutes goes back to Codex's own UI.
- Answered elsewhere, gone here. Answer in the terminal and Nudge's copy disappears.
- No double popups. Allowing a pattern prompt covers Claude's follow-up request for the same command.
- Calmer animation. The panel fades in place instead of dropping in.
Fixes
- A crash when the panel resized while redrawing (it hit 1.3.x too).
- Pausing Nudge hands waiting prompts back to Claude or Codex instead of denying them.
- Patterns stay quiet in
dontAskmode, so headless runs can't stall on them. - "Allow for this session" now applies only to the agent that asked.
- A startup race that could leave Nudge running but unreachable.
Heads up
- First launch adds a hook to
~/.claude/settings.json(aPermissionRequestentry pointing at Nudge), but only if Nudge's hooks are already installed. The file is backed up first, and if you remove the entry, Nudge won't add it again. - Codex: run
make installfrom the repo (orscripts/install-codex-hook.sh), then trust the hooks once in Codex with/hooks. - Unsigned build: re-grant Accessibility after updating (System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility, called Device Control and Data Access on macOS 27).
