DeepSeaFoam 0.6.0

Adds Monkeytype native sharing. Built-in preset PR #8421 is submitted and awaiting review, not merged or deployed.

Thirteen targets, unchanged palette

• Adds Monkeytype as the thirteenth
  application target. All original palette, syntax-heritage and terminal colors
  remain unchanged.
• Uses the native ten-slot custom-theme share object, {c: [...]}, encoded as
  ordinary Base64 in a https://monkeytype.com?customTheme=... URL.
  No extension, injected CSS, wallpaper or full-settings import is required.
• Maps base/panel to #000F13 / #001E26, main/caret to #00A591,
  secondary/untyped text to #839496, normal typed text to near-white
  #EEE8D5, and all four error roles to #E84A5F. Flip and colorful modes
  retain their native behavior.
• The share link preserves unrelated settings and separate backgrounds/custom
  CSS. The guide explains backing up existing custom colors, applying without
  account login and restoring the former preset/custom colors.

Release packaging

• Adds DeepSeaFoam-Monkeytype-0.6.0.zip, containing DeepSeaFoam.json,
  DeepSeaFoam.txt, README.md and LICENSE at its root.
• npm run package:release now recreates only dist\releases\0.6.0\, not all
  of dist. Other release versions, the historical manual-upload kit and
  dist\instagram\ remain untouched. Re-running it replaces only the selected
  local version directory; published assets are never replaced by this command.
• Expected release inventory: thirteen target artifacts, the complete source
  bundle, the theme-license companion and SHA256SUMS.txt — sixteen files,
  with fifteen payload digests. The new manual VS Code kit lives under
  dist\releases\0.6.0\marketplace\vscode\.

Showcase and verification boundaries

The gallery now has thirteen cards. Product artwork retains its source/license
provenance and does not imply endorsement. Both the 3 MiB all-file cap and
256 KiB non-audio cap remain unchanged; shipped licenses count toward them.

The source bundle includes the current underwater showcase: eligible
fresh visible loads preload music during the intro and attempt playback only
after dive completion. Skipped/reduced-motion intros can complete immediately.
Blocked autoplay keeps a request ready for a genuine tap or key without requiring
the Play button; browser policy still controls whether audible playback is allowed.
Explicit Cancel/Pause, real failures, hidden/pagehide and history restoration
suppress further automatic retries. Music and motion buttons gain a subtle static
seafoam border/halo, independent of motion. This is not a claim of zero-interaction
playback in every browser.
Theme/code MIT licensing still excludes separately documented third-party artwork
and the supplied music.

Repository checks cover deterministic/nonmutating generation, palette
propagation, native slot order, share-URL round-trip, license copies, packaging
boundaries and the gallery contract. The actual Monkeytype share link was also
exercised in disposable Edge across all four flip/colorful modes, including
typed/untyped/error/extra/caret colors, preservation of unrelated preferences
and native preset restoration. This does not establish every-browser support,
marketplace updates or upstream inclusion. Track actual submission and review
receipts in publication status.

DeepSeaFoam 0.5.1 - Licensed themes and manual Marketplace upload

Original DeepSeaFoam theme files and generator code are now MIT-licensed. Third-party artwork and marks remain excluded; no blanket showcase license is granted. All twelve native targets carry notices, and single-file downloads have a separate license companion. Palette colors are unchanged.

VS Code manual upload: download DeepSeaFoam-VSCode-0.5.1.vsix, then upload it through the zanark publisher at https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/manage. The VSIX includes its manifest, theme, README, MIT license and original seaweed/foam PNG icon. No PAT is required for browser upload. This release is NOT a claim of Marketplace publication or approval.

The upload-instruction source is a template; use version 0.5.1 where it says {{VERSION}}. Local npm run package:release also writes the fully rendered kit under dist\marketplace\vscode.

Fifteen release assets include twelve theme exports, full source bundle, MIT license companion and SHA256SUMS.txt. Earlier releases are unchanged.

DeepSeaFoam 0.5.0 - Twelve app targets

DeepSeaFoam now has 12 application targets. New: Discord (optional unofficial CSS), Telegram Desktop, Slack (limited four-color preset), Chrome/Edge, JetBrains IDEs 2025.3+, Sublime Text and Alacritty. Palette colors are unchanged.

The showcase adds a freely roaming foreground nautilus with 3x faster targets and credits the 7952 x 5304 Pexels inspiration photo by JJ Perks through an external original-image link.

DeepSeaFoam 0.4.2 - Vivid terminal-inspired signals

Replaces 0.4.1's softened core signals with vivid terminal-style intensity, shaded a little darker and richer. These are not pale or chalky pastels.

Convert each approved terminal source from sRGB to OKLCH, multiply both lightness and chroma by the role's scale, preserve hue, then convert back to sRGB and round to 8-bit channels. The nonuniform scales deepen the existing terminal colors without mixing in white/gray or forcing equal lightness/chroma.

The canonical palette records signalAdaptation with space: "oklch", method: "proportional-shade", sourceGroup: "terminal", and each role's source/scale. Native semantic mappings and core-backed syntax inherit the vivid signals. The symmetry guide becomes #00A59188, retaining alpha 88.

Readability

• UI selection becomes #00A59126 at unchanged 14.90% alpha, compositing to #002526 on the base and #003236 on panels. Ordinary #93A1A1 text has approximately 6.08:1 / 5.20:1 contrast respectively.
• VS Code incidental highlights use #00A5911A; find fills use #EBE56526 / #EBE5651A with full-color borders. Invalid-token text stays #000F13 on the revised #E84A5F rose fill.
• Obsidian error surfaces become #E84A5F26 and hover #E84A5F2E; HSL/RGB aliases remain generated from canonical colors.

The reproducible OKLCH derivation retains hues from the original 0.3.0 sRGB colors (#2AA198, #859900, #B58900, #DC322F), not the rounded 0.4.0 outputs. Shared lightness/chroma change from 0.78 / 0.08 to 0.73 / 0.12, followed by conversion to in-gamut sRGB and 8-bit rounding. The result is darker than 0.4.0, much richer in chroma, and still lightened relative to the originals. Seafoam's chroma is slightly higher than its original; this is not uniform desaturation.

Native semantic mappings and core-backed syntax inherit the correction. The symmetry guide becomes #28C0B588, retaining alpha 88.

Each original sRGB color is converted to OKLCH, preserving its hue while setting lightness to 0.78 and chroma to 0.08, then converted back to in-gamut sRGB and rounded to 8-bit channels. The canonical palette records the derivation.

DeepSeaFoam 0.3.0 - Higher-contrast terminals

Higher-contrast terminals

Windows Terminal and VS Code's integrated terminal now share a dedicated palette inspired by the supplied Solarized Dark Higher Contrast scheme:

• Brighter mist foreground (#9CC2C3), warm whites and richer ANSI colors, including distinct bright variants.
• Orange cursor (#F34B00) and deep-teal selection (#003748).
• All 19 non-background reference colors are preserved. DeepSeaFoam deliberately keeps its #000F13 background instead of the reference's #001E27.
• Core UI colors, editor syntax and the other applications' color mappings are unchanged.
• Nineteen new local swatches document the separate terminal extension. The cinematic website's terminal study follows the new colors.

Downloads

Choose the VS Code VSIX, Obsidian ZIP, Windows Terminal JSON, Visual Studio theme source, or Firefox theme source. The complete ZIP includes all exports, palette sources, generator, documentation and website. SHA256SUMS.txt covers the downloadable packages.

Firefox permanent installation requires Mozilla signing. Visual Studio source requires version-specific Color Theme Designer / VSIX packaging. No live application settings are changed by these exports.

DeepSeaFoam 0.2.0 - Very dark teal

The workspace base is now #000F13: extremely dark teal, not pure black. Panels remain #001E26 and the seafoam accent remains #2AA198. All five application exports, README swatches, mappings and website studies have been updated. Selection uses #2AA1984D over the new base; the opaque Windows Terminal equivalent is #0D3B3B, with readable ordinary foreground text. Transparent black shadows and backdrops remain unchanged. The complete bundle includes the cinematic underwater website and both hidden creatures. This is an intentional cross-application palette revision; SpriteCanvas and existing release assets are untouched. Firefox is unsigned static-theme source requiring Mozilla signing for permanent installation; Visual Studio remains portable .vstheme source for Color Theme Designer/VSIX packaging. No live application configuration is modified.

Firefox tab hierarchy refinement inspired by the quiet layering of Solarized Dark: inactive tabs now merge into a black tab strip with subdued labels, while the selected tab rises into the DeepSeaFoam panel surface with warm text and a seafoam active line. No website content styling or live browser settings are included. All application packages are regenerated from the canonical 0.1.1 palette source.
