Version 1.1.39, versionCode 42, October 13, 2026, following 1.1.38 (41). PR #111 carries c2e3203; the signed bundle zennotes-1.1.39-vc42.aab (31,633,858 bytes, SHA-256 3e1db81badf4309f754ee21eb1bd0ac46470538c5d89390eac6b5d41fdde01a5) was built from tag v1.1.39 (1664759), whose tree 3e8148db equals c2e3203's.

What changes on the phone

  • Start a note in the folder you are browsing. Browse has a New note row above New folder, in every folder and at the top level. It opens a new note inside the folder you were looking at, with its title selected so you can type its name (#108, ZenNotes/zennotes#923).
  • A Cloud vault another device encrypted says so. When another device moves a ZenNotes Cloud vault to end-to-end encryption, this phone stops syncing the old vault and says it was replaced by an encrypted one, instead of asking you to update on every sync. An encrypted vault shows its real name as soon as encryption is unlocked, and its backups say to save an archive in the desktop app instead of offering a button that could only fail here.
  • Settings search offers only what this phone has. Searching Settings no longer lists the settings of sections the phone hides (an assistant's MCP settings, the command-line tool, Keymap), which opened an empty page.
  • Renaming a note keeps an assistant's pending edits with it. When an assistant edited a note through the desktop app's MCP server, the desktop keeps what the note said before until you review the change there. Renaming, moving or deleting the note here now moves or removes that record with it, so the review still finds its note on your computer.
  • Clearer wording: the app's own text no longer uses long dashes.

Under the hood

Core core-2.69.0-core.h27a2c5df8414d1dd was built by CI from ZenNotes/zennotes d1344076 (the v2.69.0 release commit, run 38428924425); core:adopt checked SHA-256, SHA-512, packed versions and clean-source provenance. The core also carries the rest of ZenNotes 2.69.0, including shortcuts that no longer act behind a dialog on a hardware keyboard.

The 2.69.0 additions that need a desktop stay off on Android: Settings → MCP → Server token (its bridge members are optional and this app leaves them out) and What's New. No new palette command needed the hide list, and the settings labels the shell hides by are unchanged.

Source: branch release/1.1.39 from main 251b4ce, six commits ending in the version commit. The APK requests the same permissions as 1.1.38; no manifest or SDK change.

Validation

  • Typecheck and 278 JavaScript tests passed (three new vault cases for the assistant edit records, each failing on the previous code); npm run upstream (boundaries and typecheck), the high-severity audit gate and npm run sync passed; testDebugUnitTest (21 Java tests), lintDebug (0 errors) and assembleDebug passed; bundleRelease was signed with the upload key on JDK 21, and aapt2 reads md.zennotes 42 / 1.1.39 from the bundle.
  • On an emulator (a throwaway API 36 device) with the same web bundle: a fresh setup; Browse, New note created inbox/Untitled.md with its title focused; an assistant edit record moved with a rename and went with Delete; and phone-width Settings search hid the MCP, CLI and Keymap results and kept the rest. CI's emulator job launched the app on the PR.

Play Console submission

1.1.38 (41) was live. Production, Create new release: the AAB was dropped in by Adib and processed as 42 (1.1.39): API 24+, target SDK 36; no devices lost or added (12,366 phones, 6,793 tablets); 3.25 MB update; only the usual "no deobfuscation file" warning. Release notes inside <en-US> tags, rollout 100%, saved, and sent for review on October 13 at about 12:50 CDT (17:50 UTC). Managed publishing is off, so Google publishes it when review passes; at the time of writing it shows "Changes in review", and App bundle explorer lists 42 as Active.

PR #111 merged as 1664759 (merge tree equals 3e8148db, the tree of c2e3203, the AAB's source); lightweight tag v1.1.39. This release carries Play's signed universal APK from App bundle explorer as zennotes-1.1.39-universal.apk: 31,883,725 bytes, SHA-256 3e2d5f90…7f5d, md.zennotes 42 / 1.1.39, min 24 / target 36, signer 9f1af3a4… as since 1.1.22, the same three permissions as 1.1.38, no CHECK_LICENSE or pairip.

How to test locally

  1. npm ci && npm run build && npx cap sync android, then open android/ in Android Studio and run on a device or emulator.
  2. Tap the circle, then Browse. Open a folder (or make one with New folder) and tap New note. Before: there was no New note row. After: a note opens inside that folder, with its title selected.
  3. Open Settings and search "review". Before: Review agent edits was listed and opened an empty page. After: only settings this phone has are listed.
