Tech Support, FAQ
First, ensure all the following criteria are met:
-
Are you playing on the correct game version? Usually the version is included in the pack description (e.g. [v73]), and the game's version can be seen on the title screen in the bottom left corner. If the versions don't match, you will get issues.
To change the game version, right click the game on steam --> properties --> Game Versions & Betas --> Set to either previous or default - Ensure you are using an Up-to-date version of Gale Mod Manager. We do not offer tech support for the other mod managers, as Gale is the most stable and performant.
- Play via an import code rather than downloading it directly from the mod browser. Players have reported issues downloading the pack directly from Thunderstore, but have found import codes to work just fine.
- When importing the profile, always do it to a NEW empty profile. Don't replace the "Default" profile, give it a new name.
- When importing the profile, hit Advanced Options --> Import All Files
- Have you modified the pack in any way? (E.g. added or removed any mods) If so, see the section below about Pack Customisations. Prior to that, ensure you can get the pack working without any extra modifications to isolate the issue.
- Are you playing a pirated/cracked version of the game? The modpack will not work on pirated versions of the game, and we do not offer further tech support for these cases.
If after all of that, you are still having issues, seek us out for assistance in our Discord.
- Make sure the above steps for a proper setup have been followed
- Ensure steam server maintenance isn't in effect, and the usual issues with firewalls/antivirus, internet connection etc. have been checked for
- If the Discord invite isn't working, try getting them to join from steam
- If you have been waiting in a lobby for around 15-20 minutes or more, the lobby may close. Typing "Lobby open" into the terminal may fix this. Alternatively, you can land the ship on a moon and then go back into orbit, whereby the lobby will re-open. By doing this at the Company, no "day" will be lost from the quota either.
- Our lobbies have a queue system to prevent players getting "voided" (black screen, green gas cloud) when trying to all join at once. A notif should popup anytime someone tries to connect, and be patient and wait for each player to load in.
- This is a purely visual thing. A modlist hash is basically a code that says what mods/configs you have. When someone has a different hash to you, they likely can't join your lobby due to the changes. Anytime i update the modpack, i update the included hash code, and the title screen will warn you if the code doesn't matchup for some reason. Regardless, this may be due to something like a clientside mod being disabled, which means you can still join a lobby just fine.
For a comprehensive list of bugs, see here.
- To fix this bug, you can press "," which triggers a manual inventory fix and should popup a warning on screen. Incidentally, pressing this button when your inventory is not bugged_** WILL then bug it out**_, so be careful. If LethalHands is also present, you can press J to force drop items to the floor, which may help.
- This common bug is often called the "void" bug, or "getting voided", and is a common way the game errors you out of a lobby. Common causes include: Playing on the wrong game version or using a mod for the wrong version of the game, having mismatched mods or configs to the host, trying to rejoin a lobby after being booted out from stability issues, or players doing stuff that affects you when you're trying to load in such as pushing your player around the ship or routing to a moon too early.
- This is due to the config requiring very specific item names and not being properly formatted yet. You can add item names yourself to let them work with the command.
In general, please note our modpack is only optimised for 1-6 players. Going beyond 6 players will create more instability, where the host will need a more powerful machine and you may need to consider disabling some clientsided cosmetic mods.
- Ensure you have at least 10GB free minimum wherever you have lethal and the mods installed to, as well as the usual of making sure its on an SSD instead of HDD if possible. The 10GB free is needed for this mod to work properly.
- Consider disabling some moons you don't intend to visit, and disable some mods in the "clientside" and "extra" section of the modpack (Sort by "Ascending" and "Custom" in Gale Mod Manager, they're down at the bottom)
- When loading into a moon, ensure all players are "tabbed in" to the game. Being tabbed out often results in them loading slower, which causes a delay for everyone. During the loading screen, you can see which players are still trying to load to help spot this.
- For different reasons, both of these packs alter the game in a way that hurts performance. The casual pack has more content thrown in, and Labyrinths is themed around having much larger interiors and longer days, resulting in more lag.
- Consider disabling some moons you don't intend to visit, and disable some mods in the "clientside" and "extra" section of the modpack (Sort by "Ascending" and "Custom" in Gale Mod Manager, they're down at the bottom)
- In the Labyrinths pack, try adjusting the "Distance culling" settings inside of the CullFactory config (This can be done in realtime in the game), as well as BetterSprayPaint's max spray decals
- This is likely due to the larger than average interiors and high number than enemies. Unfortunately, there isn't much else i can do to boost performance on these moons. In general, if you plan to visit these moons or are so far into a run you need to, really consider disabling some clientside stuff and keeping the lobby size reasonable.
- If this is the case, contact me in my Discord server, where i'll investigate it and see what causes it.
- Type "suits" into the terminal, to bring up the SuitsTerminal UI.
- Type "reserved" into the terminal, where it will bring up a menu, showing the different slot prices
- These are from CodeRebirth. To collect them, you need to buy a Denomination Analyzer from the store. From there, you can just "use" them in your hand to collect them.
- Take them to the moon Oxyde, where inside the Director's Cabin, they can be used on a Workbench to unlock new ship ugprades.
- In some pack variations, Oxyde is unlocked by default. If not, you can unlock Oxyde via using an Oxyde Tablet. The Oxyde Tablet can be found rarely in interiors, and can also be found from Crashed Ships. Crashed ships have a 5% chance to appear on any moon, but have a 100% chance to spawn on Embrion if you haven't unlocked Oxyde yet.
- Type "Extend deadline" into the terminal, which will bring up a menu.
- When spectating an enemy, hold Y to speak through them. There is text on the UI showing this, and when you do it, it will turn blue.
- Press Y.
- Press J.
- Press P.
- Suits are entirely clientside, and can be freely disabled/swapped out for others at your own discretion.
- The mod that causes this is either LalalatteLoadstone or ZetasLoadingMusic + LoadingMusic, depending on which pack version you are using. You can freely toggle these mods off to disable this, as they are purely clientside.
- Unfortunately, adding new content to the modpack is not as straightforward as normal, since the pack is highly configured and customised, meaning new content won't automatically be added to the spawn pools.
- To add a new weather, make sure in WeatherRegistry you give it a default weight. If you want to add it to our weather system, you will have to manually add that weather to the weather-to-weather weights for every other weather
- To add a new interior to a moon, you need to edit the interior list found inside the moon in LunarConfigMoons.cfg.
- To add a new enemy to a moon, you need to edit the enemy list (either inside, outside or daytime) found insdie the moon in LunarConfigMoons.cfg.
Once you start dipping into customizing the modpack yourself, you dip into the realm of modding in general. At that point, the amount of tech support and help we can give is limited, you'll need to start problem-solving on your own and use trial and error. However, here is some key simple tips for any basic modifications you want to make:
- Use the LC Modding Discord to check for mod compatibility. Search for the mod and experiment with different keywords like "compatible", "bug", or specific issues like "desync", "lag" to try and find common cases of incompatibility issues with the mods.
- Check the changelog for the mod and make sure you're using the right version
- Avoid old or deprecated mods, especially ones that would require networking/syncing, as future game updates like v73 broke networking for any mods not updated for v73.
- Only add a few mods at a time. If you add a bunch at once and then something breaks, you will struggle to isolate what is causing it specifically.
