G2 CM5 Lite SD image — USB keyboard/mouse fix (2026-09-13)
Fixes missing USB keyboard/mouse host configuration in the September 7 CM5 Lite SD image. Reported by N9WAR.
The old image already contained the keyboard/mouse drivers, but enabled the USB host only under [cm4]. On CM5 the USB 2 controller stayed disabled. This image adds dtoverlay=dwc2,dr_mode=host under [cm5].
For official Raspberry Pi CM5 Lite (no eMMC) in a screenless ANAN G2, using the carrier's microSD slot. An eMMC-equipped CM5 cannot use that native SD slot.
- Open the attached g2-cm5-sd-pi-image.rpi-imager-manifest in Raspberry Pi Imager 2.0.10 or newer.
- Select Raspberry Pi 5 and ANAN G2 Raspberry Pi CM5 Lite microSD image.
- Keep username pi, choose your password, and enable SSH if desired.
- Write and verify a 16 GB or larger card. The human operator then installs it and boots the G2.
Do not select the raw .img.xz using Use custom; it omits required Trixie login customization. No default password is supplied.
An existing card can be repaired without reflashing: see the attached USB-INPUT.md. Full SD guide.
Validation: downloaded old release hashes verified; old CM5 images fail the new USB check; both corrected image builds pass USB host/input, XDMA, boot/service/identity checks and ext4 integrity. SD partition UUID/rootwait/expansion checks pass. Checksum comparison found only config.txt content changed from the previous SD image. USB device-tree overlay checks show disabled → okay, with role host.
Bench-test prerelease: physical keyboard/mouse enumeration and typing, fresh-flash login, expansion, receive/audio and front-button acceptance remain human checks. No physical boot or transmitter operation is claimed. Kernel remains 6.18.34+rpt-rpi-2712 with its matching XDMA; later kernel upgrades need XDMA rebuilt. See the attached SHA-256 file for download verification.
Packaged by KB2UKA. Saturn by Laurence Barker, XDMA by Xilinx/AMD, Raspberry Pi OS by Raspberry Pi Ltd. Sources and licenses are documented in THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md; bundled source remains in the image.

- Open the attached g2-cm5-pi-image.rpi-imager-manifest in Raspberry Pi Imager 2.0.10 or newer.
- Select Raspberry Pi 5 and ANAN G2 internal Raspberry Pi CM5 image.
- Keep username pi, choose your password, and enable SSH if desired.
- Confirm the eMMC destination carefully, then write and verify it. The human operator restores normal boot mode and boots the G2.
Do not select the raw .img.xz using Use custom; it omits required Trixie login customization. No default password is supplied.
An existing installation can be repaired without reflashing: see the attached USB-INPUT.md. Full eMMC guide.

Third download for the official Raspberry Pi CM5 Lite (no eMMC), using a microSD card in a screenless ANAN G2.
Installation instructions for macOS, Windows and Linux
Download and open g2-cm5-sd-pi-image.rpi-imager-manifest in Raspberry Pi Imager 2.0.10 or newer. Select Raspberry Pi 5 → ANAN G2 Raspberry Pi CM5 Lite microSD image. Keep username pi, choose your own password and enable SSH if wanted. Write and verify a 16 GB or larger microSD card in your computer's reader. Do not select the image through the OS picker's Use custom: the manifest supplies required Trixie login customization. There is no default password.
CM5 Lite only: CM5 models with eMMC do not expose the carrier's native SD interface. No rpiboot, programming cable or eMMC switch change is needed for this SD installation. Follow the guide for safe card insertion and first-boot checks.
The repo now offers:
- Pi 4 / CM4 microSD — original stable image.
- CM5 eMMC — existing bench-test candidate.
- CM5 Lite microSD — this release, also a bench-test candidate.
The SD image contains Trixie 64 bit, Saturn p2app, and XDMA for 6.18.34+rpt-rpi-2712. It uses the same kernel, driver and software as the eMMC edition, with an SD-specific boot README. Boot and root partitions are referenced by UUID; existing expansion setup is preserved. It retains the original boot voltage/frequency settings, adds no Zeus installation and configures no internal touch panel. Kernel updates require rebuilding XDMA.
Verification: full offline build, driver/identity checks, SD partition references and expansion setup, ext4 check, and file comparison against eMMC passed. The manifest contains measured compressed and raw hashes/sizes; the attached .sha256 verifies the compressed archive. Fresh CM5 Lite flashing, login, first boot, expansion, receive/audio and front-button acceptance remain pending. No physical SD boot is claimed.
Build instructions and source tooling are in the tagged repository. Saturn source revision 4b0b76f345961cfeeb447abc6d8b0373f5743245, including the matching modified XDMA source, is bundled under /home/pi/github/Saturn; see THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md and LICENSES.

Second image for the official Raspberry Pi CM5 with eMMC in a screenless ANAN G2. The original CM4 release remains unchanged.
This is a bench-test candidate. Offline driver, filesystem and identity checks passed; the matching driver runs on KB2UKA's CM5 with p2app active and zero restarts. A fresh flash and first-boot acceptance test of this assembled image remains pending. It is not for Radxa CM5 or a preconfigured internal touch panel.
Full CM5 installation and reimaging instructions cover existing CM5 owners, Mac/Windows/Linux flashing tools, backups, the G2 connector/switch, login customization and first-boot checks. A separate section covers upgrading from CM4.
Download and open g2-cm5-pi-image.rpi-imager-manifest in Raspberry Pi Imager 2.0.10 or newer. Select Raspberry Pi 5 and ANAN G2 internal Raspberry Pi CM5 image. Keep the username pi, set your own password and enable SSH if wanted. Do not flash the .img.xz through the OS picker's Use custom, because it omits required cloudinit-rpi customization.
Expose the CM5 eMMC using the G2 programming connection/switch and Raspberry Pi usbboot before selecting the target disk. The original CM4 and SD card should remain your backup. See the attached CM5 installation guide for the manual and official tool links.
The July image already includes matching CM5 boot files. This variant adds XDMA for 6.18.34+rpt-rpi-2712, regenerates that kernel's module indexes and updates the boot README. It carries forward the original boot settings, including 2 GHz/voltage settings. Future kernel updates require rebuilding XDMA.
The compressed and raw image hashes and sizes are in the attached manifest; the .sha256 file verifies the compressed download. The standalone xdma.ko.xz is supplied for the documented rebuild script. Its matching modified source is included in /home/pi/github/Saturn/linuxdriver in the image; Saturn revision 4b0b76f345961cfeeb447abc6d8b0373f5743245. See the repository's THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md and LICENSES.
