Grisey v2.0.0-beta.1

Grisey is the new name of MultiMeter. Version 2 is a rewrite: new measurements, a new interface, and new plugin formats. This is a beta, so please report what you find in the issues.

What's new since MultiMeter 1.0

• Loudness to ITU-R BS.1770-4 and EBU R 128: momentary, short-term and integrated loudness, loudness range, true peak (4x oversampled), PLR and PSR, with delivery targets for streaming, podcasts, EBU R 128 and ATSC A/85.
• Spectrum: FFT sizes from 2048 to 16384, left/right or mid/side, tilt, smoothing, peak hold, freeze, and a strip that shows the correlation of the channels band by band.
• Spectrogram, history of the levels, and a loudness graph on one shared timeline (15, 30 or 60 s), so the same moment is in the same place in all three.
• Goniometer with persistence, as a Lissajous or a polar plot.
• Level bars, loudness bars, the loudness readings and the correlation stay in view beside every tab. One Reset button starts every measurement again.
• A resizable interface, redrawn at 60 or 30 frames per second.
• VST3, AU, CLAP and Standalone, for macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel, 10.15 or later) and 64-bit Windows 10 or later.
• Built with CMake and JUCE 9. Every build is checked with pluginval on both systems.

Installing

Download the zip for your system below and copy what you need into your plugin folders; the README has the paths.

The builds are not signed with a developer certificate or notarized. On macOS, clear the quarantine flag after copying, for each plugin you installed:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/Grisey.vst3

On Windows, SmartScreen may warn about the standalone app: choose "More info", then "Run anyway".

Coming from MultiMeter 1.0

Grisey keeps MultiMeter's plugin codes, so a session saved with MultiMeter opens with Grisey in its place, with its settings. For the same reason the two cannot be installed side by side: remove MultiMeter first.

Known limits of this beta

• It has been used as a standalone app and in JUCE's AudioPluginHost on macOS. It has not been tried in many hosts, and hardly at all by hand on Windows.
• The loudness measurements are tested against synthesized versions of the EBU Tech 3341 and 3342 signals, not yet against the EBU's own recordings.

First release of MultiMeter.

MultiMeter has since become Grisey. Version 2 is a rewrite with loudness metering, a spectrogram, new plugin formats and a new interface: see the latest releases. This release stays here for anyone who needs version 1. The two cannot be installed side by side, because they share their plugin codes.
