LiveShell Engine

LiveShell Engine v1.3

Discover, a full phone / PC remote, homebrew tiles and a lot of fixes.

What's new

  • Discover tab: hundreds of animated wallpapers that play on the PS5. Download one, press Use, done.
    • Categories and series: Anime, Games, Fantasy, Landscape, Sci-Fi, Pixel Art ... and more, plus search.
  • Phone / PC page is now a full remote: Videos, Discover, Library and Settings, everything the PS5 app can do: pick and delete videos, a video per game, sound, Dim / Vignette / Haze, Hide in Settings, PS Store only and more.
  • Homebrew and web-app tiles (Payload Manager, etaHEN Toolbox, Cheatrunner etc..)
    • they show in the Library with their icons,
    • and can get their own video like a game. LiveShell prepares the tile by itself; the first time it says "... is ready for its own video. Shut down LiveShell Engine and load it again to see it."
  • Hide while a game is open (Settings, off by default): no video on the home screen while a game is still open in the background.
  • All shows your newest videos first, internal and USB together.
  • Tabs: All, Discover, Library, USB, Settings.

Fixed

  • Black screen for a few seconds after closing a game: the video now comes back right away.
  • The same video no longer restarts when it is picked again or when you come back to its tile.
  • A video that never starts is retried by itself (up to 3 times).
  • Per-game videos for some games on extended storage, and those games now show in the Library.
  • Pause while a game runs is always on now (games always get the video decoder).

How to use

  1. Put .mp4 files in /data/LiveShell/video or in a liveshell folder on USB.
  2. Load liveshell.elf.
  3. Open the LiveShell Engine (Media).
  4. Discover: pick a wallpaper, Download, then Use.

Supported: H.264 and HEVC up to 1080p. 4K is not supported yet.

If your video doesn't play, drag it onto convert_for_ps5.bat from LiveShell-Converter.zip and wait until its done.
