VLC PS5 v0.3
VLC PS5 v0.3
Fixes Blu-ray menus, subtitles from anywhere, and VLC moves to the Media tab.
What's new
- Disc menu and Pop-up menu: in Tracks › Playback while a DVD or Blu-ray plays, to go back to the disc's menu, or open a Blu-ray's pop-up menu over the film
- Blu-ray region: Settings › Playback › Blu-ray region (A, B or C), for discs that only play in their region. It starts from your language; change it if a disc says it can't play
- Add any subtitle file: Tracks › Subtitles › Add a subtitle file opens Browse, so you can pick a subtitle from the media folder, a USB drive or a network share, for any video
- Subtitles found everywhere: a subtitle next to the video with the same name (
Movie.srt,Movie.en.srt,Movie - English.ass, or in aSubsfolder) now loads by itself from network shares and links too, not only from USB - Subtitles in any language's encoding: older subtitle files saved as Chinese (GBK, Big5), Japanese, Korean, Russian, Arabic, Turkish, Polish or Western European text now show the right letters instead of garbage
- VLC is in the Media tab of the home screen.
Fixed
- DLNA media servers weren't found when VLC runs without full access (no Helper): the console already uses the port DLNA listens on, and VLC gave up. It now finds servers by asking for them
- Subtitles inside videos (SRT tracks in MKV files) and
.srtfiles didn't show at all on the PS5. Styled.asssubtitles were never affected - The bottom of the picture was cut off on some videos (1024x560, 720x368 and other sizes that aren't a multiple of 16)
- Blu-ray menus didn't react to the D-pad or ✕
- A Blu-ray's menu could reopen the disc in fast decoding and lose your place in the menus
- A false "can't keep up" right after resuming from pause or adding a subtitle
- A subtitle from a network share could show up twice in Tracks when you opened the same video again
- Adding a subtitle from a network share froze the picture for half a second
