Scratchbox Public Dev Alpha 1.0 - First Release

We're excited to announce the first public release of Scratchbox: Public Dev Alpha 1.0! Scratchbox is a game platform built off Scratch and Turbowarp, designed to shift the focus from coding to playing games. With this release, we're bringing you the core foundation of what will become a fully-fledged game platform.

🚀 Features:

  • Game Import System: A game importing system has been included to import and play any .sb3 files. You can upload and share games using download codes via catbox.moe. Simply upload your .sb3 file to Catbox, get your 6-character download code, and play the game in Scratchbox.
  • Web Browser: Scratchbox includes a built-in browser for any of your needs while in Scratchbox (e.g. visiting other download code sites.)
  • Store: The store is live! Despite being named the store, its a repository of Scratchbox games selected by us with their download codes for you to import in using the download code system. Right now, it only features one game, but we're planning regular updates and new content over time.
  • Username Settings: Personalize your experience by setting or changing your username in the Settings menu. Your username will appear on the home screen and persist across sessions and the games you play.
  • Persistent Data: No need to worry about losing any data! Scratchbox uses local storage, so your data and settings will remain even after you close the platform.
  • Help/Info Section: New to Scratchbox? We've got you covered with a Help/Info application to answer any questions and walk you through the platform's key features.

🐞 Known Bugs:

  • Submersible Game Loading Time: The game Submersible can take a very long time to load. We're actively working to optimize this in future updates.
  • Game Hover Sounds: Even when games are not displayed, they still play their click sound when hovered over. This is on our list to fix in an upcoming patch.

🔧 Other Details:

  • This release is free and will always be free! We aim to make Scratchbox an accessible and fun platform for everyone.
  • Updates and new games will be rolled out frequently, so keep an eye on the store for fresh content.
