Seisin 1.3.0

Choose a tag to compare

@abdulsheibani abdulsheibani released this 28 Sep 09:47

A free cover letter builder, and Network. Same app, same local-only data, no account.

What's new

Cover letter builder. Paragraph-by-paragraph prompts help you write your own letter, opening, why this company, an achievement, and a closing, in your own words. Nothing is generated or assembled for you. A rule-based completeness check flags anything worth a second look, and a finished letter exports to PDF or Word, or attaches to an application the same way resumes already link through.

Network. Track the people behind your search separately from any one application: recruiters, referrals, coworkers, people from school, and everyone in between. Log a dated note after each conversation, and tag a contact to an application. Adding an application flags anyone you already know at that company.

The two connect. Write a letter for a company where you already know someone, and that contact shows up right there under your opening paragraph. It's a nudge to check with them first, the actual wording is still yours.

Free plan limits

Exporting a resume is 10/month and exporting a cover letter is 3/week. Adding new contacts to Network is 20 in your first 30 days, then 5/month. Saving, editing, and viewing are never limited and nothing you already have is removed. Settings > Your Free Plan shows what is left and when each limit resets.

Also in this release

A round of visual and performance polish alongside the two features above:

  • A No Response status for roles that went quiet, kept out of the "still waiting" reminder
  • Resume and cover letter exports never run onto a second page
  • Settings moved to its own icon in the top bar, making room for Network alongside the other sections
  • Ctrl+scroll or a trackpad pinch zooms the resume and cover letter preview

Your data

Unchanged: everything lives in a local SQLite file on your machine, including cover letters and contacts. No account, no cloud, no sync. Full detail in the changelog.

Seisin 1.2.0

@abdulsheibani abdulsheibani released this 10 Sep 01:24

Seisin now runs on macOS and Linux, alongside Windows. Same app, same local-only data, no account. Apple Silicon Macs and most Linux distributions (AppImage or .deb) are covered.

What's new

Weekly goals. Set your own targets for the week - applications sent, follow-ups made, whatever you're tracking - and tick them off from a checklist in the top bar.

A report when you land a role. Accepting an offer opens a summary of your whole search: what worked, your strongest source and resume, how long it took, and the option to wrap up anything still open.

See where each CV has been used. Every stored resume now lists the applications it was sent with and links straight through to them.

Currency, and quicker edits. Applications now carry their own currency, filled in from the job link where possible, and the offer comparison switches between converted totals and each offer's original currency. On the Applications table, one click edits a row, and you can move an application to its next stage straight from the table.

A cleaner Withdrawn flow. Applications you've walked away from get their own status and stay out of your active pipeline. If you cancel an accepted offer, Seisin offers to reopen the ones you withdrew along the way.

Better search and autofill. Search now ranks results by relevance across applications, interviews and your question bank. Pasting a job link recognises more sites and fills in more of the form.

Faster, and it stays fast. Startup is quicker, moving between pages is instant once the app is open, and performance holds up with hundreds of applications tracked.

Sounds and celebrations. Subtle audio and a tidier set of celebrations as an application moves forward, with confetti kept for offers, and status-change confirmations now sit on a dimmed backdrop so they stay readable. All toggleable in Settings.

Under the hood

  • A visual and contrast pass across the app, plus a long list of smaller fixes
