@abduzeedo abduzeedo released this 13 Oct 01:02

MaPC 1.0.4 Beta. MaPC is in public beta: expect rough edges, and tell us what breaks at support@mapc.games.

What's new

  • Clearer support screen: everything that runs your games (every store, engine update and game fix) stays free. Supporting MaPC is optional; it unlocks the Pro extras and helps cover the AI token costs of building the beta.

@abduzeedo abduzeedo released this 13 Oct 00:46

MaPC 1.0.2 Beta. MaPC is in public beta: expect rough edges, and tell us what breaks at support@mapc.games.

What's new

  • Updated license agreement (you'll be asked to accept it again): MaPC is pre-release software, and experimental DirectX 12 compatibility is explained. It's free, isn't part of MaPC Pro, and only works with Apple's Game Porting Toolkit if you install it yourself; MaPC doesn't include, sell or license Apple software, and Apple's license governs its use.
  • Clearer notes for DirectX 12 games and during DirectX 12 setup.

@abduzeedo abduzeedo released this 13 Oct 00:45

DirectX 12 engine 2.0.1 for MaPC (experimental; free, not part of MaPC Pro; needs MaPC 1.0.1 Beta or later). See https://mapc.games/directx12.html

MaPC checks this before it uses the engine.

What is inside

This engine does not contain any software from Apple. If you install Apple's Game Porting Toolkit yourself, MaPC can copy D3DMetal from your download, after checking Apple's signature. MaPC doesn't include, sell or license Apple software; your use of D3DMetal is governed by Apple's license, which limits it (for example, to developing, testing and evaluating games).

Licenses and source

  • licenses/ inside the engine has the full license text of every component and THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md; the same texts are attached as mapc-engine-2.0.1-licenses.tar.gz.
  • Complete corresponding source for Wine: crossover-sources-26.3.0.tar.gz plus our build script, mapc-engine-2.0.1-build-scripts.tar.gz (also inside the engine under licenses/build). The build applies no patches; it runs CrossOver's configure with the options in the script.
  • Wine is free software under the GNU LGPL 2.1 or later. For any LGPL or GPL component, including the runtime libraries, email support@mapc.games for a copy of its complete corresponding source, for no more than the cost of providing it. This offer is open to anyone who has received this engine, for at least three years.

CrossOver is a trademark of CodeWeavers; Apple, Metal and Game Porting Toolkit are trademarks of Apple Inc. MaPC isn't affiliated with either.

What is inside (unmodified upstream builds, plus one small helper program of our own):

Licenses. mapc-engine-1.0.0-licenses.tar.gz below has the full license text of every component and a list of which applies to what (THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md). The engine archive itself only carries a short notice; engines from 2.0.0 on include the full texts.

Source code. Wine and Wine Staging are free software under the GNU LGPL 2.1 or later, DXVK is under the zlib license, and the runtime libraries are under the licenses listed in the notices. The source of the exact versions above is available from the links above and from the Wine project (https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine and https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine-staging, tag 11.18). If you would like a copy of the complete corresponding source of any LGPL or GPL component from us instead, email support@mapc.games and we will send it, for no more than the cost of providing it. This offer is open to anyone who has received this engine, for at least three years.

This engine does not contain any software from Apple.
