Install

Downloads the DMG, installs PIE to /Applications, and strips the Gatekeeper quarantine attribute so it opens without any prompts.

Homebrew

brew tap abhishek-data/pie https://github.com/abhishek-data/homebrew-pie
brew install --cask abhishek-data/pie/pie
xattr -cr /Applications/PIE.app

Manual DMG

Download the .dmg above, drag PIE to Applications, then run:

xattr -cr /Applications/PIE.app

(Or right-click PIE → Open the first time and confirm at the Gatekeeper prompt.)

Windows

Run the .exe installer above. If SmartScreen warns, click More info → Run anyway.

macOS builds are signed with PIE's stable self-signed certificate (PIE Developers). It is not notarized, so first launch still needs the quarantine strip the installer performs. Because the certificate is stable, the permissions below survive future updates.

On first run, grant Microphone and Accessibility permission (Accessibility is needed to paste the prompt at your cursor).

What's new in 0.5.0

  • New app icon, drawn from sound: one wave read left to right.
  • A proper monochrome menu-bar icon that follows the macOS light/dark bar, replacing the colour app icon that was previously scaled down to fit.
  • The recording overlay is now a single compact row — roughly a third of its previous footprint.

Upgrading from 0.2.x? The signing identity changed once in 0.3.0 (see docs/signing.md). Reset the old grants first, then relaunch and grant once:
