PICAZHU Windows Wiki

PICAZHU for Windows is a local-first visual media browser for Windows 10/11. It is designed for real photo and video folders, fast browsing, metadata inspection, iPhone import, selected-original export, HEIC handling, and optional AI tagging.

Current Release

Product Principles

  • The filesystem is the source of truth.
  • Originals are not moved unless the user explicitly imports or exports copies.
  • AI is optional and off by default.
  • Performance and responsiveness come before hidden background work.
  • The UI should feel like a premium visual media workspace, not a generic file list.

Main Capabilities

  • Recursive folder indexing with sidecar-file ignore rules.
  • Virtualized visual grid for large libraries.
  • HEIC previews through native WIC first, bundled libheif fallback second.
  • Metadata panel with file, camera, resolution, creation-date, and GPS support where source metadata exists.
  • Video and image preview workflow.
  • Multi-select export of original files.
  • iPhone import through Windows portable-device access.
  • Runtime light/dark theme switching.
  • Optional AI tagging through LM Studio, Ollama, Ollama Cloud, or OpenAI.
