BoxArt 0.1.1 adds quicker cover actions, optional filename cleanup, and a drag-to-Applications installer.

  • Right-click any cover or list row for Show in Finder, Show Info, Find Image, Search Images Online, Import Image, and Save Image. Saved covers remain protected from replacement.
  • Refreshed All / Missing / Unsaved / Saved filters with icons and counts. Unsaved previews have a direct save action and clearer explanation.
  • Optional Normalize filenames when processing setting, off by default. Unique title/region matches can rename ROM files as artwork is downloaded, preserving extensions and recording old/new filenames. Handles PSP scene names such as Ridge Racer 2 and LocoRoco; ambiguous titles are not guessed.
  • Renaming skips collisions, already-covered games, RetroArch/imported playlist mappings, and folders with disc descriptors or playlists. Leave normalization off for libraries referenced by external playlists.
  • New custom DMG with a drag-to-Applications layout.

Requires macOS 14 or later on Apple Silicon. Open the DMG and drag BoxArt into Applications.

Signed by XenoCode Inc, notarized by Apple, and stapled for offline verification. SHA-256 checksum included.

Validation: 16 offline tests passed; four opt-in network tests skipped in the final run. The PSP index/cover integration test also passed during development.

First public release of BoxArt, a native macOS app for downloading and preparing emulator box art.

  • Grid and list views, system sidebar, and Shift/Command multi-selection.
  • Download and save all missing covers, or only selected games.
  • Libretro artwork with GameTDB fallback for Nintendo DS.
  • Anbernic/NNDDSS, RetroArch, TWiLight Menu++ and custom export layouts.
  • 512px default export, automatic destination-folder creation, and protection for existing artwork.
  • Native Icon Composer icon and Command-comma settings.

Requires macOS 14 or later and Apple Silicon. MIT-licensed application; downloaded artwork remains subject to its respective rights and provider terms. ScreenScraper integration is deferred.
