mcptoon exec <lang> "<code>" — run code so only its stdout enters the
context. Every other command brings data back; this one runs a program and
returns just what it prints, so a script that reads a 100 KB file costs the
lines it outputs, not the file. It is a context sandbox, not a security
sandbox — the child process has the machine's full filesystem and network
access; the module docstring says so and must keep saying so.
mcptoon kb index/fetch/search/list/stats/purge — search inside
documents, not just which document to open. docs answers "which file"; kb
answers "which passage". It chunks text into SQLite FTS5 with two indexes
(porter for stemming, trigram for fragments) merged by Reciprocal Rank Fusion,
so a hit that ranks well in either strategy surfaces near the top. Measured
on a 94,980-byte README: the 3 relevant snippets, ~900 bytes, returned.
Standard library only (sqlite3, FTS5 ships with CPython).
Flood guard for the gateway's search tools — a per-agent sliding-window
throttle so one agent firing a dozen individual searches is nudged toward a
single batched call instead of a dozen round trips.
mcptoon session / mcptoon_session — an honest event log of what routed
through the gateway (tools run, failures, writes, git commands), handed back as
a "here is where you were" summary when asked. This is capture +
on-demand recall, not automatic restore: MCP has no pre-compact hook, so the
gateway cannot inject into the host's context. Every summary carries that note
(pinned by a test); an agent that never calls it gets no benefit.
mcptoon credit — one command that names your delivery mode, the real
saving, and the single next action (human line + --json). Prefer it over
assembling an answer from status/stats/footer-facts.
Delivery mode is now named wherever a saving is claimed.quickstart and install end by saying whether the machine is actually saving (a fresh install
often stops at direct — installed, not wired — where nothing is saved), and report warns at the top of a direct machine that the figures below are what
you would save.
One JSON contract across every surface.status, mode, statusline, report, savings, bench, usage, activity --summary, footer-facts, doctor and credit now all emit delivery_mode, cli_credit, and one_action (+ recommended), so a script reads the mode and the fix instead
of parsing prose. doctor keeps recommended_action as a back-compat alias.
statusline's direct tag is now direct→sync / 直连→sync — the fix, not
just a warning.
Changed
SKILL.md (1.4.3) documents mcptoon credit and states plainly that direct
mode saves nothing, so an agent relaying savings names the mode first.
