Knotchy 0.1.0

The first release of Knotchy.

Knotchy opens links you don't trust in a throwaway Linux virtual machine and shows the page in a panel under your
Mac's notch. The VM can reach the internet but not your Mac or your network, and it's deleted when you're done.

You'll need a Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 26 or later.

Install

1. Download Knotchy-0.1.0.dmg below, open it and drag Knotchy to Applications. It's signed and notarized.
2. Open Knotchy and click Set Up. It downloads Apple's container runtime, checks it against a pinned SHA-256
   and opens it in Apple's Installer, which asks for your password. Then it builds the browser VM, which takes about
   3 minutes.
3. Safari and Mail work right away through the Services menu. For Chrome, Edge, Brave or Arc, unzip
   open-in-knotchy-1.0.0.zip, open chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode and use Load unpacked on the
   folder. It'll be on the Chrome Web Store soon.

The README covers the rest, including how it all works and what it
can't do yet.

In this release

• Open links from the Services menu, the browser extension, or the clipboard with ⌃⌥⌘L.
• Folded pages count down in the notch and are destroyed when the time runs out. ⌘W destroys one right away.
• Pages can go through an HTTP or SOCKS5 proxy or a WireGuard VPN. If it drops, pages stop loading instead of
  going out directly.
• A setup window installs everything on first launch and explains what it's doing.
