Kural is a code editor with an AI assistant built in. It is VSCodium (the open-source build of VS Code), so everything you know from VS Code works the same: extensions, themes, settings, the terminal, Git.
Kural's AI comes from any of these (set up one or all; switch in the chat's model menu):
- Claude. Anthropic's Claude models, through Claude Code and your Claude plan. No API key, nothing extra to pay.
- ChatGPT (Codex). OpenAI's models through the Codex CLI and your ChatGPT plan.
- Google Gemini. Google's Gemini models with your Google account (free, AI Pro, Ultra), through Google's Antigravity CLI.
- Your own model. A model on your computer through Ollama. No account, no internet: your code never leaves your computer.
| Page | What's in it |
|---|---|
| Getting Started | Install Kural, then pick Claude, Google Gemini, ChatGPT (Codex) or your own model |
| Chat | The chat: modes, models, moods, files and pictures, history, two chats at once |
| Multiple Agents | A project team (PM, Researcher, Architect, Developers, Tester), or agents that discuss |
| Google Gemini and ChatGPT | Using your Google account (Gemini) or ChatGPT plan (Codex) in Kural |
| Your Own Model | Models on your computer: finding, downloading, what they can and can't do |
| Tab Completion | Grey suggestions as you type; the Tab Completion panel; changing a name in other files too; what it learns |
| Terminal | Whole command lines in the terminal, commit messages, plain words → commands |
| Devices | A Raspberry Pi or board computer over SSH: link it to a chat, a terminal on it |
| Inline Edit | Ctrl+K, and Apply from the chat |
| Search and Ask | Find and replace text; find code by describing it |
| Browser | Your app beside the code; select an element to add it to the chat |
| Account and Updates | The usage meter; who's logged in, switch account, log out; updates |
| Settings and Shortcuts | Every Kural setting and keyboard shortcut |
| Troubleshooting | When something doesn't work |
Kural's chat knows these features: ask it "can Kural …?" or "how do I …?". If Kural can't do what you need, ask for it as a feature. Found a bug? Report it.
