Aura v1.1.0 (build 281) β€” sideload IPA

Native SwiftUI music player for Navidrome and Subsonic-compatible servers.
This IPA is the full-featured build, including the optional Soulseek (slskd) integration. If you don't run slskd, it stays off: it only appears once you turn on Settings β†’ Beta Features.

New in 1.1

  • Gapless playback: the next song is lined up behind the one playing, so live albums and mixes run without a gap.
  • Aura speaks your language: French, Italian, Spanish, German, Catalan and Dutch, picked from iOS Settings β†’ Aura β†’ Language.
  • Now Playing widget for the Home Screen: the song and its cover, with previous, play-pause and next in the medium size.
  • Star ratings, in Song Info, synced to your server; ratings given offline are sent when it's back.
  • A home address for your server: on your home network Aura uses it while it answers.
  • A streaming quality of its own for cellular, and your queue saved to your server when you leave the app.
  • Recently Searched keeps what you play from search, and shows the playing song in the accent colour; many layout fixes.
  • Updating keeps everything: still com.aura.goldian, so installing over an earlier sideload keeps your server, passwords, downloads and pins.

Why two builds?

The App Store build ships without the slskd integration because App Review's guideline 5.2.3 makes shipping any P2P-adjacent feature a coin flip. Everything else is identical. Both builds are free.

What's in this IPA that's not in the App Store version

  • Get It: on a Radar release, on a Deezer result in Search, or on the heart while a preview plays in Now Playing, Aura finds the release on Soulseek through your slskd, downloads it, and waits for your server to add it. Progress shows in a card above the mini player and in a Live Activity.
  • Soulseek (slskd) search, set up in Settings β†’ Beta Features β†’ Soulseek (slskd).
Both require a running slskd instance on your LAN or homelab. Only download music you have the right to.
  • Nothing else. This is not a "pro" version β€” no features are gated behind paying.

Install

You need a sideload loader. Pick one:

  • AltStore β€” official, pair with the AltServer desktop app
  • SideStore β€” no desktop companion, uses a VPN profile trick
  • Feather β€” free, no paid account required, slightly more complex setup

Steps (AltStore):

  1. Install AltStore on your iPhone following their docs.
  2. Download Aura-v1.1.0-build.281.ipa from the Assets below.
  3. Open the file in AltStore β†’ "Install".
  4. First launch: iOS will block it β€” go to Settings β†’ General β†’ VPN & Device Management, trust your Apple ID as a developer.
  5. Open Aura, add your Subsonic/Navidrome server URL and credentials.

Certificate refresh: free Apple ID certificates expire every 7 days. You'll need to re-install through AltStore weekly. Paid Apple Developer certificates last a year. This is an iOS limitation, not an Aura one.

File checksums

Verify the IPA before installing β€” it's an unsigned binary from a GitHub Release, you should always check.

What's new in this release

(See CHANGELOG.md for full history.)

  • Landscape clock, redone: the clock turns its own content to face the phone instead of rotating the whole app β€” it fades in and out, follows the phone from side to side, and closing it no longer leaves Now Playing in landscape. Lyrics on their side stay one size with the sung line centred; real 56-point controls, a tap on the clock switches digital/analog (remembered), a close button, a clock/lyrics switch, a progress line, and the screen stays lit on a charger
  • Lyrics translation by Gemini, on tap only β€” with your own free key; a song is sent only when you tap the translate button, and when one model's free quota is spent the next takes over (Flash β†’ Flash-Lite β†’ Gemma). Kept translations show offline
  • Save Cover Art no longer crashes the app: Aura now asks to add to your photo library; a Wrapped playlist saves the cover you see
  • Autoplay after a one-song album no longer claims to be playing from that album
  • Offline: an offline mode you pick stays on across launches; offline pages match the online layout; Wrapped and playlist covers show offline
  • Long-press a cover to lift it alone, with Change / Save / Remove Cover Art
  • Artist pages show your play count under the name; Instant Mix, Shuffle and the heart span the width
  • Any accent colour, from the system colour picker
  • Home's Up Next and Recently Played, and the queue, move smoothly instead of jumping
  • Made For You covers no longer fall back to flat colour when many load at once

Requirements

  • iOS 26.0 or later
  • A Navidrome, Airsonic, Gonic, or other Subsonic-API v1.16.1-compatible server
  • Optional: an slskd instance on your network for the Soulseek features

Known issues

  • The landscape clock needs Settings β†’ Landscape Clock on, and iOS's Portrait Orientation Lock off
  • Feather users: some have reported the app icon not rendering on first install β€” force-close and reopen once.

Aura v1.0.0 (build 225) β€” sideload IPA

Native SwiftUI music player for Navidrome and Subsonic-compatible servers.
This IPA is the full-featured build, including the optional Soulseek (slskd) integration. If you don't run slskd, it stays off: it only appears once you turn on Settings β†’ Beta Features.

New since build 182

  • Apple Watch app: Now Playing over the blurred cover, lyrics, Up Next, the Crown on the iPhone's volume, and the library (search, mixes, favourites, playlists) from the top corner.
  • CarPlay: Home with the mixes and the Radar, playlists with favourites, newest albums, Now Playing with the heart and Up Next. CarPlay needs an entitlement Apple grants per developer, which re-signing a sideloaded app drops, so it works in the App Store build only.
  • Lyrics you can time by hand: tap Now as each line starts. Remixes and edits get lyrics timed for their own recording.
  • Radar: swipe a release away, unfollow an artist; it follows SoulSync's watchlist.
  • Missing songs: an album you only have part of lists what's missing, each playable as a preview and gettable with Get It.
  • Mixes draw from across each genre; Wrapped is named in your language; many layout fixes.
  • Updating keeps everything: this build keeps the identifier com.aura.goldian, so installing it over an earlier sideload keeps your server, passwords, downloads and pins.
