WhatsApp Web Wrapper v0.1.0

This is the first stable release of WhatsApp Web Wrapper, a lightweight, fast, and native desktop client for Linux built with Rust and Tauri v2. It provides seamless integration with modern Linux desktop environments (KDE Plasma 6, GNOME, XFCE, and tiling WMs), bringing performance and system integration that standard browser tabs or heavy Electron wrappers cannot offer.

What's New & Key Features

  • Native System Notifications: Fully integrated with Linux D-Bus (notify-rust).
  • Full Media & Voice Notes Support: AppImage is bundled with the complete GStreamer media framework, ensuring voice notes recording/playback and alert sounds work out-of-the-box on every distribution.
  • Wayland & KDE Plasma 6 Optimized: Custom window management, WebKit rendering parameters and window decoration lockups when restoring the app from the system tray on Wayland compositors.
  • System Tray Integration: Runs quietly in the background with quick left-click toggle, context menu, and auto-start on boot support.
  • Window State Persistence: Automatically remembers and restores window dimensions, position, and maximized state across sessions.
  • Hardware Support: Out-of-the-box support for microphone (voice notes), camera, and geolocation.
