v2.57.0
Steer live subagents from the dashboard
The dashboard can now send steering messages directly to a selected running subagent without cancelling its completed work.
What changed
- Live subagent composer. Running child transcript views now accept repeated steering messages; completed, failed, rehydrated, and unavailable views remain read-only.
- Exact child targeting. Steering is scoped by
agentIdand never falls back to the parent or a sibling. - Authoritative queue visibility. The drill-in view shows that child’s pending steering messages and effective
one-at-a-timeoralldelivery mode. - Bidirectional child control. Background subagents now use an RPC control channel while preserving transcript relay, model/thinking reporting, completion, abort behavior, and result collection.
- Loud lifecycle failures. Rejected or pre-loop child prompts terminate visibly instead of leaving an agent permanently running or leaking a concurrency slot.
- Expanded regression coverage. Coding-agent RPC lifecycle, dashboard server routes, and live/read-only screen behavior are covered.
- Documentation updates. Root, coding-agent, dashboard, and RPC documentation describe live subagent steering and read-only states.
Implemented in PR 464.
