Release list
Spynel v0.12.17
Native attachment directives now work in notifications, including documents, photos and multiple files. Upload failures remain queued for retry. Telegram and WhatsApp stop retained adapters when recipient authorization changes.
Spynel v0.12.16
Fixes autostart registration and new-workspace onboarding.
-
Keep failed autostart changes from saving settings and restore prior registration after native failures.
-
Require a reachable systemd manager before inspecting or changing Linux autostart.
-
Show the standard welcome screen for newly created TUI conversations.
-
Include the Codex model and speed selection fixes from the previously incomplete release.
-
Use synthetic identity fixtures and remove local build paths from Linux release executables.
Spynel v0.12.15
Publication incomplete: release verification failed before native builds and npm publication. Native archives, checksums, and npm 0.12.15 are unavailable; use stable 0.12.14. The failed workflow is https://github.com/agent0ai/spynel/actions/runs/37329515982.
Codex model selection now offers explicit Normal alongside Fast and Inherit, with turn-local speed overrides. Completing selection from configuration returns to the refreshed saved model, reasoning effort, and speed; the malformed post-save controls and stale summary are fixed.
Includes configuration-flow and transport regressions plus updated capability documentation.
v0.12.14
v0.12.13
v0.12.12 — Custom models and reasoning effort
Add Custom as the final option in the model and reasoning-effort selectors, with text entry available when detection fails or omits a value.
Manual model and effort values can also be saved through configuration commands or YAML. Codex, Claude Code, and Pi receive manual effort values directly and validate whether they support them. Settings still commit atomically for subsequent turns, while service-mode validation and ACP's existing effort limitation remain in place.
v0.12.11
Fix Codex failures in workspaces with long saved sessions by resuming without returning the full turn history. Preserve saved sessions on resume failure and close failed transports, including stdin for npm-launched native children.
Make terminal repaint restoration atomic so the renderer cannot write a TUI frame into the ordinary terminal before F6 copy.
Handle Telegram /start with “Spynel is running.” without adding it to help or the command list.
Validation: full Go tests, vet, build, race checks, smoke tests, terminal replay, and two real /workspace TUI startup/message/F6/shutdown cycles. All four native targets passed the release validation gate.
Spynel 0.12.10
Fixed commands and new messages failing with “conversation history exceeds recovery bound of 2000 entries” in long conversations.
Duplicate-message validation now streams the complete retained history with bounded memory. Duplicate suppression, corruption checks, and recovery scan limits remain enforced. Regression coverage includes update commands beyond 2,000 history records.
Spynel 0.12.9
spynel update now updates its installation and restarts every running instance of it across workspaces, including primaries, headless servers and secondary TUIs. /update performs the same operation for its workspace primary's installation. update check checks versions without changing anything.
spynel killall stops verified Spynel processes across installations and stops matching autostart services so they do not immediately respawn. Saved workspace data and future boot/login registrations remain intact.
Restart confirmation requires the updated executable, a new process generation and application readiness. TUI terminal attachments survive coordinated restart. Processes from releases before 0.12.9, including updated binaries still supervised by an older npm launcher, require a one-time stop with the new spynel killall command and relaunch; updates report this condition explicitly.
Validation includes Go tests/vet/build, race tests, smoke and npm tests, standalone installer/update/uninstall checks, and native npm replacement across two workspaces with a headless primary and two real TUI terminals. Every supported native release target runs the new multi-instance test before artifact and npm publication.
Spynel 0.12.6
Autostart now has one Enable or Disable button selected from verified native registration state. Each action checks the result and reports failures.
Configuration and channel forms support mouse-wheel scrolling, button and field clicks, caret placement, text selection, and editing through the shared input editor.
Orchestrator workflows use the fixed .spynel/tasks and .spynel/goals directories; the routes setting has been removed. Unused configuration keys are ignored when loading and removed automatically on the next save.
Validated with Go tests and vet, race tests, real terminal input tests, configuration smoke checks, visual captures, npm launcher tests, and a packaged Linux arm64 executable.
