Summary

Scope

  • User-facing/API changes:
    • Docker Compose now exposes UI at http://localhost:4000 by default.
    • README quick-start text now mentions UI + API availability.
  • Internal changes:
    • New multi-stage UI Dockerfile with pnpm build + pnpm start runtime.
    • New UI .dockerignore.
    • Docker publish workflow split into server + UI jobs; UI image published as galileoai/agent-control-ui with matching tag strategy.
  • Out of scope:
    • FastAPI static UI serving behavior and route fallback logic in sc-57537.
    • Nginx/reverse-proxy architecture changes.

Risk and Rollout

  • Risk level: medium
  • Rollback plan:
    • Revert this PR to restore prior compose behavior and single-image publish workflow.
    • If needed, disable/rollback only UI image publish job by reverting .github/workflows/docker-publish.yml changes.

Testing

  • Added or updated automated tests
  • Ran make check (or explained why not)
  • Manually verified behavior

Manual / targeted verification run:

  • docker build -f ui/Dockerfile ui -t agent-control-ui:test
  • docker run -d -p 4010:4000 agent-control-ui:test
  • curl http://127.0.0.1:4010/ returned HTTP 200
  • docker compose -f docker-compose.yml config returned valid config

make check was not run because this PR changes Docker/CI/compose/docs paths only; targeted runtime and compose validation was run instead.
