AgentVPS 0.0.3
AgentVPS 0.0.3 adds native installation paths for Debian 12/13, Ubuntu 22.04/24.04/26.04, and Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux and CentOS Stream 9. The desktop uses distribution-appropriate TigerVNC commands, Chromium and screenshot tools. Active firewalld is now handled alongside UFW. Chinese product copy uses “个人助理”.
Debian 12 passed a fresh real VPS installation, data restore, automatic startup after reboot, an upgrade using the unchanged 0.0.2 upgrade script, and actual Codex MCP desktop operations. Seven other x64 system/version configurations passed dependency, MCP, PTY, four-resolution desktop and browser → CSV → Python → dashboard checks in pinned containers. The final tarball also passed fresh-install checks for all seven retained CLI commands.
RHEL 9 has an unverified subscription-dependent path. ARM64 hardware, full RPM VM boot and enforcing SELinux remain unverified. See the compatibility report or 中文报告 for exact results, failures and fixes.
Use the installation guide, or upgrade an existing VPS with sudo agentvps upgrade ./agentsdance-agentvps-0.0.3.tgz. Files, token and browser profile are retained; running commands and app windows close during restart. Connect agents directly to authenticated HTTP MCP; no local AgentVPS forwarding client is required.

AgentVPS 0.0.2
AgentVPS now connects directly to your agent over authenticated Streamable HTTP MCP. Configure the VPS /mcp URL and bearer token; no local AgentVPS client or Node.js installation is required on the agent's computer.
- Removed the local stdio bridge, saved remote connection configuration, and
connect, mcp, upload, anddownloadCLI commands. - Retained seven VPS administration commands. Files, browser, desktop, shell, and all 47 MCP tools remain available.
- Updated the English/Chinese website, installation guides, agent skill, and Codex/Claude Code configuration examples.
- The installer prints the desktop and MCP URLs. Existing workspace data is retained during upgrades.
Migration: replace an old AgentVPS stdio registration with the remote HTTP configuration before removing the local package. See connection instructions.
Validation: runtime tests, fresh tarball installation, direct MCP binary transfers and shell/PTY calls, complete browser/CSV/Python/dashboard workflow on the live VPS, actual Codex HTTP MCP desktop operations, English/Chinese responsive website checks, and disposable-container upgrade rollback/uninstall checks.
The version 0.0.1 release assets remain unchanged. This release is distributed through the attached GitHub tarball.
AgentVPS 0.0.1
AgentVPS 0.0.1 turns an Ubuntu VPS into a persistent remote computer for an agent connected through MCP or the CLI.
- Real streamed Linux desktop with shared Chromium, native Terminal and Files, watch/takeover, clipboard, fullscreen and four screen resolutions.
- 47 MCP tools for commands, Python/JavaScript/Bash, PTYs, files, browser and desktop control, notes, schedules and previews.
- 11 CLI commands, bearer-authenticated HTTP MCP and a local stdio bridge for Codex, Claude Code and other clients.
- Ubuntu installer, upgrades with rollback, data-preserving uninstall and an explicit purge option.
- Simple manual and agent installation guides at https://agentvps.ai-infra.org.
Download agentsdance-agentvps-0.0.1.tgz and verify it against agentsdance-agentvps-0.0.1.tgz.sha256, or follow the website installer. This scoped @agentsdance/agentvps package comes from commit a500c74 and keeps the agentvps command. The original unscoped tarball and SHA256SUMS remain unchanged for existing installations. The CLI requires Node 22 or later; the VPS installer supplies its own pinned Node runtime.
Verified on Ubuntu 22.04 x64: actual Codex MCP calls operating the visible Linux desktop; browser download → Python → dashboard → screenshot; native and web terminals; binary file transfer; human takeover and enforced watch-only input; screen resizing; upgrade and restart. Uninstall, purge and failed-upgrade rollback were checked in disposable containers. Local package tests install and exercise a fresh tarball.
This is an early, single-owner release. A built-in conversational agent/model loop is not yet implemented; connect an existing agent for reasoning and orchestration. Direct public-IP access uses HTTP; use TLS or SSH forwarding for private work. Live processes/windows end on service restart. See README for isolation boundaries, persistence and limits.
