v0.1.0 (superseded preview)
This preview has been superseded. The release series starts at v0.0.1. Use the latest release for installation.
Install Warp Agent Session Restore on macOS with one command:
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/agentsdance/warp-agent-session-restore/master/install.sh | shThe installer downloads the binary for Apple Silicon or Intel, verifies its SHA-256 checksum, and installs warp-agent-session-restore in /usr/local/bin. Run it as your normal user; macOS may ask for your password to install the command. Git, Go, and build tools are not required.
After installation:
warp-agent-session-restore statusSetup enables a user background service, adds Claude Code session hooks with settings backups, and adds a zsh helper when Codex supports --no-daemon. Configuration, saved sessions, and logs are stored under ~/.warp-agent-session-restore.
Requires macOS, Warp Stable, and the Codex or Claude Code CLI. Restored conversations open in new Warp windows. A full Warp restart with real conversations has not yet been validated end to end.
For a different command directory, add --bin-dir /absolute/path to the installer. See the README for configuration and supported session behavior.
v0.0.3 — Restore daemon-created Codex terminal sessions
Codex terminal conversations originally created through the shared daemon are now captured after they are resumed locally, even when their transcript metadata says source=vscode. The transcript must identify codex-tui as its originator, and its session ID must still match the filename. Editor sessions, subagents, and ambiguous transcripts remain excluded.
- Added regression coverage for daemon-created terminal metadata and rejected non-terminal sources.
- Added recovery guidance for missing conversations and stale macOS data-access permissions after an update.
- Validated a real Warp restart on macOS: all 11 expected conversations (six Codex and five Claude Code) resumed exactly once, including a previously skipped daemon-created Codex conversation. Verification covered the new Warp lifetime, actual agent processes and transcript metadata, restore claims, and continued watcher capture.
- Validation:
make test(go test -race ./...andgo vet ./...) and GitHub CI.
Conversations still running through the shared Codex daemon cannot reliably be mapped to individual Warp panes. Start or resume them with --no-daemon so each terminal holds its own transcript. This release does not recover conversations that were never captured in a snapshot.
After updating, check System Settings → Privacy & Security → Files & Folders → Warp Restore → Data shared by Warp and affiliated apps. The locally signed app may need this permission enabled again. The README includes a scoped permission-reset procedure if macOS retains the previous app signature.
Downloads include macOS Apple Silicon and Intel binaries plus SHA256SUMS.
v0.0.2 — macOS 27 permission fix
Fix macOS 27 Files & Folders permission setup.
- Install the background helper as
~/Applications/Warp Restore.appwith a real bundle ID, so macOS can grant access specifically to Warp’s data. - Print the manual permission step required on macOS 27: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Files & Folders → Warp Restore → Data shared by Warp and affiliated apps.
- Keep both CLI names, existing settings, and saved sessions.
- Repair restricted alias permissions from earlier installs and retry transient background-service registration failures.
Install or update:
curl -fsSL https://warp-restore.ai-infra.org/install.sh | shAfter updating, you may need to enable the Warp-data permission again. Use the Warp Restore entry rather than an older warp-agent-session-restore entry.
Validated with race-enabled Go tests, vet, native bundle signature checks, and reinstall identity checks. A full Warp restart with real conversations remains unvalidated end to end.
v0.0.1
The release series starts at v0.0.1. Both command names are supported:
warp-restore status
warp-agent-session-restore statuswarp-restore is an alias of the same executable, so both names use the same settings, saved sessions, and background service.
Install or update with:
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/agentsdance/warp-agent-session-restore/master/install.sh | shThe installer adds both commands to /usr/local/bin, downloads the Apple Silicon or Intel binary for your Mac, and verifies its SHA-256 checksum. It may ask for your macOS password to install the commands. Rerun it to add the alias to an existing installation.
Check the installed version with either name:
warp-restore --version
warp-agent-session-restore --versionRequires macOS, Warp Stable, and the Codex or Claude Code CLI. Saved conversations reopen in new Warp windows. Configuration and session data are kept under ~/.warp-agent-session-restore. A full Warp restart with real conversations has not yet been validated end to end.
