Renamed

  • holler is now awp, the reference implementation of the Agent Wire Protocol (AWP). The name is the whole change: the binary and every command (awp up, awp send, …), the home directory (~/.awp, awp.db, awp.sock), the environment variables (AWP_*), the MCP server and its tools (awp_send, …), the plugin and skill (awp), the Go module path (github.com/agentwireprotocol/awp), the request MIME types (application/vnd.awp.exec+json and the others), the auth context string (awp-auth-v0), the Python peer (awp_peer.py) and the release artifacts (awp_<version>_<os>_<arch>.tar.gz, awp-plugin_<version>.tar.gz). The wire format, v: 0, is otherwise unchanged.
  • There is no compatibility with 0.4.0. A 0.4.0 peer and an awp peer cannot complete the auth handshake, since the context string changed. Reinstall, run awp bootstrap again (it does not migrate holler's entries; holler bootstrap --uninstall --all removes them first), and keep an identity with mv ~/.holler ~/.awp && mv ~/.awp/holler.db ~/.awp/awp.db.
  • Draft 1 of the spec is now titled Agent Wire Protocol, with a new opening paragraph and a note on the old name. Its content is otherwise unchanged apart from the renamed strings.

Install

The script picks the archive for your platform, checks it against SHA256SUMS, installs awp to ~/.local/bin and offers to run awp bootstrap. Or by hand (linux or darwin, amd64 or arm64):
