Agix

An operating system for teams of AI agents you own and run yourself.

brew tap agix-ai/agix
brew install agix-aos

AI can answer your questions. What people actually strive for is to create — to build something they love that came out of their own head. Agix exists for that. Instead of renting a single assistant, you keep a hive: a governed team of specialist agents on infrastructure you control — advocates that want you to succeed, and adversarial enough to correct you when you're wrong.

Our mission: help people install an AI foundation they own and grow — not features they rent.

Why Agix?

  • You own it. Runs on your machine through the coding-agent CLI you already use — no API key required to start, no telemetry, nothing phones home. Your agents, your data, your knowledge never leave your control.
  • It's governed. The hive works like bees do — a swarm of small foragers working a problem in parallel — but a governed swarm: the agent that does the work is never the agent that verifies it, and every action traces back to a person. A fleet you can actually trust with real work — not a black box.
  • It compounds. What the hive learns lands in the Comb — a knowledge graph you own. What it learns on a Tuesday it still knows in March. An old hive knows more than a new one, and it can't be copied.
  • One conductor. You talk to one agent; it fans the work out to the fleet and brings back what matters. One long conversation instead of nine parallel ones.

How we're organized

Agix is three efforts under one roof — an open core, a research lab that keeps it honest, and the implementation work that proves it in production:

Agix AOSthe open core A local agentic operating system and agent development kit: the agix CLI, a fleet of legible specialist agents, an intra-agent message bus, and the Comb. Apache-2.0. (Open-sourcing now — landing here as agix-aos.)
homebrew-agixdistribution The official Homebrew tap. One brew install and the hive is on your machine.
The labresearch A standing research operation that runs nightly: live comparative studies, reproducible benchmarks, and distillation experiments — the adversarial proving ground where we try to break our own system before you do. Studies publish here as they clear review, negative results included.
Agiximplementations Agentic implementation work, for teams that want the foundation designed and built with them. The field work funds the open work — and what we learn there flows back into the OS.

What the lab is testing

The hypothesis behind all of it: a governed, verified body of knowledge — continuously re-rendered onto the current generation of small models — holds a durable lead on your domain at a fraction of frontier cost. The corpus appreciates; any single model depreciates. And verification is the frontier: generation is commoditized, while knowing — cheaply, and with receipts — that agent work is right remains the hard, valuable problem. That's where we point our research, and we publish what we find either way.

Built on a foundation you own and grow — not features you rent.

Scale your AI organically.
