picklock (v0.4.0)

relm has been officially rebranded to picklock!

picklock is the universal, keyboard-driven data browser for people who refuse to leave the terminal. Whether you're working with relational tables, Mongo documents, Redis key-values, Cassandra columns, or Neo4j graphs—picklock pops open your data store with zero ceremony, zero Electron, and pure speed.

What's New in v...

Model Context Protocol (MCP) Support

relm now includes a dedicated MCP server binary (relm-mcp), turning relm into a unified database interface for AI coding agents and assistants (such as Antigravity / agy, Claude Desktop, Cursor, and Windsurf).

Instead of configuring separate MCP servers for each database technology, a single relm-mcp server provides access across all 9 supported database engines: SQLite, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, SQL Server, MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra, and Neo4j.

MCP Tools Included

  • list_objects — List tables, collections, keys, or node labels.
  • browse — Paginate through data using native engine pagination (keyset, cursors, skip/limit).
  • inspect — Inspect table schemas, column types, primary keys, indexes, and storage metadata.
  • query — Execute raw queries in the native language (SQL, MQL, RESP, CQL, Cypher).
  • connect — Connect or switch databases dynamically using a DSN or saved connection name.
  • list_connections — Discover saved database profiles from ~/.config/relm/connections.json.

Safe by Design

  • --read-only mode: Block write operations (INSERT, UPDATE, DROP, SET, mutations) at the server level to allow agents to safely analyze production or development environments.

Quick Start

Add to your mcp_servers.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "relm": {

v0.3.0 - Non-Relational support

Choose a tag to compare

@agmonetti agmonetti released this 02 Sep 14:29

What's New

NoSQL Database Support

Added full support for non-relational database engines:

  • Redis — Key-value store support with visualization for strings, lists, sets, and hashes.
  • MongoDB — Document store support with collection browsing and JSON-like document exploration.
  • Neo4j — Graph database support with node and relationship mapping.
  • Cassandra — Wide-column store support for keyspaces, tables, and CQL interactions.

TUI Improvements

  • NoSQL-aware UI — Heavily refactored the TUI to support non-relational schemas, introducing dedicated structures for key-values, documents, and graphs across the browser and workspace screens.
  • Unified Connection Manager — Enhanced connection string parsing to automatically identify and route connections to the appropriate database engine.
  • Demo Mode — Added a dedicated mock/demo mode for non-relational databases, making testing and showcasing easier.

Documentation

Added comprehensive documentation covering the architecture, UX, and database engines under:

docs/non-relational/

Security & Maintenance

  • Security Patches — Updated mongo-driver to v1.17.7 and go-redis to v9.7.3 to address known vulnerabilities.
  • Code Quality — Applied standard Go formatting with go fmt and static analysis with go vet across the codebase.
  • Dependency Cleanup — Ran go mod tidy to clean up and optimize module dependencies.
