Spotsie v0.1.3
A small release that finishes bringing back how the lyrics view felt before 0.1.1.
Changed
- Opening the queue beside the lyrics switches the cover at once again. The cover no longer glides and resizes between its large and small places. The cover and lyrics views now behave exactly as they did before 0.1.1.
Playback needs Spotify Premium. Spotsie is not affiliated with Spotify.
Spotsie v0.1.2
A small release that brings back how the cover and lyrics views felt before 0.1.1.
Changed
- Switching between the cover and the lyrics is instant again. The cover no longer glides and resizes when you swap views or when the lyrics arrive. Opening or closing the queue beside the lyrics still glides the cover between its large and small places.
- The player bar over the cover and lyrics is quick again. It slides in and out at its earlier speed and steps aside 1.5 seconds after the pointer leaves. It still stays up while a menu is open.
Playback needs Spotify Premium. Spotsie is not affiliated with Spotify.
Spotsie v0.1.1
The first public Spotsie: a native Spotify client that looks like Spotify's desktop app, built on Spotifast's proven backend, for Linux, macOS and Windows. Version 0.1.0 was an unpublished first build; this is the first one you can download.
New
- It looks like Spotify. The library in the sidebar, search in the top bar, the player bar along the bottom, and pages laid out the way Spotify's desktop app has them, with calm motion throughout: hovers fade, panels slide, pages rise into place.
- Lyrics and a cover view. Timed lyrics follow the song beside a large cover, on the cover's own colours, and a cover view fills the window with the artwork. Both go full screen, and the player bar steps aside until you reach for it.
- The cover glides. Switching between the cover and the lyrics, or opening the queue beside them, moves the cover smoothly to its new place instead of jumping.
- Eleven themes and nine fonts. Spotsie Light and Dark, Catppuccin and Catppuccin Latte, Rosé Pine and Rosé Pine Dawn, Flexoki, Nord, Tokyo Night, Everforest and Gruvbox, crossfading as you switch.
- Spotify's own radio, Recents and pins. Start radio from any song, artist or playlist, and pin what you play most.
- Updates from the top bar. Spotsie checks for a new release when it starts. A quiet "Update available" appears beside Settings; click it to download, then "Restart Spotsie" when you're ready. Settings > About can check at any time.
- One-line install.
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ahaan-shah/spotsie/main/install.sh | shon Linux and macOS,irm https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ahaan-shah/spotsie/main/install.ps1 | iexon Windows, or downloadspotsie-setup.exe. - A website. ahaan-shah.github.io/spotsie.
- Spotsie installs beside Spotifast. It has its own app ID, command, settings, sign-in and data folders, so the two never share state.
Fixed
- The page after signing in shows Spotsie's record icon, for your Spotify account and for a personal app alike.
- Lyrics say "Lyrics not available" when there are none, or when the lyrics service is down, instead of showing an error.
- Choosing from the song's menu over the lyrics or cover no longer hides the player bar from under the pointer, and the bar rises and sinks more calmly.
Removed
- The Winamp mini player and the MilkDrop visualiser, with their skins, presets, shortcuts and settings. The equalizer stays in Settings.
Built from Spotifast 0.12.0 by Carmine Paolino. Playback needs Spotify Premium. Spotsie is not affiliated with Spotify.
