Getting Started

The app has four tabs at the bottom: Home, Folders, Tools and Settings. The Tools tab can be hidden if you only want a reader (see Settings).

Home

Home greets you and shows your PDFs in three tabs:

  • Recent: the documents you opened, newest first, with the page you were on and how far through you are. Tap one to continue where you left off.
  • Favorites: documents you starred.
  • All Files: every PDF the app found on your device.

The buttons next to the tabs switch between a list and a grid view.

Searching

Tap Search your PDFs to search by file name or folder name. Partial matches work, so a few letters are usually enough. Your recent searches are kept for quick reuse.

Sorting

The sort button at the top offers:

  • Alphabetical: A to Z or Z to A
  • Date Modified: newest or oldest first
  • File size: largest or smallest first

Library statistics

The chart button shows your total PDFs, the storage they use, how many are favorites, and your recently opened files.

File options

Tap the ⋮ button on any file to:

  • add it to or remove it from Favorites
  • remove it from Recent
  • Share it with another app
  • Rename it (the .pdf extension is added for you)
  • see File Info: size, pages, dates and location
  • Delete it permanently

Folders

Folders lists every folder that contains PDFs, with a count for each. You can search and sort folders by name or by number of PDFs. Open a folder to see its files, which have the same options as on Home. A folder's ⋮ menu lets you open it or copy its path.

If you'd rather not see app caches and backups, turn on Hide Hidden Files in Settings. It leaves out files and folders whose names start with a dot.

Opening PDFs from other apps

PDF Reader Pro also opens PDFs shared from other apps, your browser's downloads, email attachments and file managers. Choose PDF Reader Pro when Android asks which app to use. A file opened this way may be a copy; the reader then offers to save changes as a new file rather than into the original.
