v0.6.1 「Cambria」
0.6.1 「Cambria」 is the stable release of the three Cambria betas: a reader that opens large books instantly, a Sentence Reader that behaves on phones, and a Beta update channel that works everywhere.
New
- Sentence Reader reads on from the page you turned to. In paginated layouts, after flipping pages by hand, the next tap or volume-key step continues from the page you are looking at. The sentence you left stays one tap away behind "Back to current sentence".
- Jumper has a go-to box. One field answers with chapters, printed pages and a live text search of the book, with the table of contents and current chapter underneath. Plugin list views can now offer plugin-computed search (views 1.12).
- Web search is on by default. Add your search provider's API key to use it. The update dialog offers a shortcut to AI settings when the key is missing and respects an existing choice to keep search off.
Improved
- Continuous scroll opens instantly, whatever the chapter size. Books whose chapters span dozens of files used to take seconds to open or jump. The reader now shows the target page at once and keeps only the files around your position loaded, without moving the text under you as files come and go.
- Text search is fast in long books. Case- and accent-insensitive search folds a section once instead of comparing string by string, so a full-book query that took minutes now takes under a second.
- Sentence Reader splits sentences the way a reader does. Opening quotes start the line of dialogue they open, abbreviations such as Mr., Dr., St. and e.g. no longer end a sentence, and footnote numbers glued to a full stop no longer fuse two sentences.
- Steadier sentence and paragraph stepping. The viewport stays put while you step through visible text, sentences that span a page boundary are revealed before advancing, and tapping the highlighted sentence on touch screens keeps advancing instead of opening its menu.
- A compact Sentence Reader toolbar. On narrow and touch screens, annotation actions and exit share one row; navigation and panel controls live in the More menu.
- The Beta update channel no longer depends on the GitHub API. Beta clients follow a fixed release pointer on github.com, so devices behind shared networks or where the API is blocked now see betas instead of a false "up to date".
Fixed
- Large books open with fewer blank screens: reading positions restore even when the saved location has no visible rectangle, and PDF pages wait for layout before restoring.
- Jumping chapters from the table of contents, chapter shortcuts or bookmarks in scroll mode no longer lets the previous chapter linger on screen.
- Volume keys work again while a note or chat field has focus in Sentence Reader.
- A dragged Sentence Reader toolbar can no longer be parked under the status bar or the system gesture strip.
- On phones, the table of contents and chat sheets close when the reader chrome hides and no longer reappear over the page when a book is reopened.
- The Reading Goals and Annotations plugins are retired: the reader owns annotations natively, and reading intent is carried by the assistant without a plugin.
