"To become a national center of excellence in adaptive, inclusive, and impactful artificial intelligence research and development for society and industry." — IT Del AI Center Vision
We focus on multidisciplinary research and the development of intelligent AI solutions relevant to society, specifically supporting advancement in the Lake Toba region and beyond.
Our innovations are focused on four strategic domains to deliver tangible impact for both society and industry:
Improving the quality of mathematics and science education through adaptive and personalized AI technology.
- AI Math Tutor: An AI-based tutoring system for elementary and middle school mathematics using the Gasing approach (In Development).
- Learning Analytics Dashboard: An early detection platform for student learning difficulties based on assessment data (Initial Research).
- Augmented Assessment: An adaptive testing system utilizing NLP and computer vision for formative evaluation (Planning).
Integrating artificial intelligence with the cultural wealth of Lake Toba to create personalized and sustainable tourism experiences.
- EVA-Del (Toba Virtual Tourism Assistant): A fine-tuned local LLM designed to answer queries regarding tourism, culture, and services in Lake Toba (Beta Testing).
- Personalized Tourism Recommendation System: A recommendation algorithm based on user preferences, seasonality, and local context (In Development).
- Toba Digital Culture Museum: Semantic mapping and digital archiving of Toba Batak cultural artifacts with AI-powered search (Planning).
Supporting data-driven decision-making for healthcare services and responsive, ethical public governance (adhering to Indonesia's Personal Data Protection Law UU PDP No. 27/2022).
- Health Load Predictor: A prediction model for hospital loads and early detection of disease outbreak risks (Model Validation).
- Fraud Detection System: Classification and NLP tools to detect anomalies in insurance claims and public services (Planning).
Leveraging AI to unlock local genetic potential and enhance sustainable agricultural productivity.
- Genomic Diversity Analyzer: NGS data analysis to identify superior genes and genetic diversity in local crops (Initial Research).
- Plant Disease Classifier: A computer vision model for the early detection of plant diseases based on leaf imagery (Data Collection).
We are committed to open science by providing public data assets:
- Toba Culture Dataset (Semantic): Metadata of artifacts and traditional narratives of the Toba Batak people (JSON/CSV, CC-BY 4.0).
- Local Plant Imagery Dataset: A collection of local plant leaf images with disease patterns for training computer vision models (CC-BY-NC 4.0).
- AI Ethics Guidelines & Templates: AI Ethics Guidelines for Researchers & Technical Checklists for AI Model Validation prior to deployment.
- AI Bootcamp 2026 (Completed): An intensive Intro to AI program (Python, ML, & Deep Learning) in collaboration with IT Del × Epsindo, utilizing internal GPU Servers.
- AI Hackathon ITDel 2026 (Ongoing): A national-level innovation competition themed AI for Tourism, challenging participants to build functional prototypes on our high-performance computing infrastructure, the NVIDIA DGX B200.
