To translate a CRF with LINK, there are 4 steps:
- Select a document to translate.
- Finding a segment to translate.
- Translate segments from English into your target language.
- Review existing translations of segments.
Let's get started!
To select a document to translate:
- Click the drop down labeled "CRF to Translate".
- You can change which version of arc to change. While we recommend leaving this as the most updated version, you can change it to any past version. This may be useful if you use a specific ARC CRF.
- Select which CRF, or "ARC" for the entire repository of questions.
Upon selecting a CRF, the data will be reloaded for that document.
To find a segment, you can jump to the next segment by clicking the green button at the bottom labeled: "Go to Next Segment: . . . ".
Once viewing a segment, you can always go to the next one by clicking "Continue", or "Save & Continue" once there are translations or comments to save.
One can always locate a segment by clicking through LINK's folder system. Start by clicking "ARC Questions" or "Lists". From there you will see folders, marked with how much you have completed that folder. The last folder, leading to an actual segment, will be marked with 📋.
Once you have found a segment, you will be able to translate it if it shows "Translate (1+)" with a number of 1 or higher, otherwise there is nothing left to Translate!
For each translation segment form, there are 5 parts:
- The Label: showing what type of segment this is. Will show Question, Answer, Definition, Guide, List Item, Form Label or Section Label. Click this label to minimize the form.
- The Segment in English: the segment you are to translate from English to your target language.
- Text Area: in the open text area, labeled "Translate segment here...", input your translation of the English segment.
- Comment Button: to the right, you will see a button to add a comment. Click that, and a text box will appear. Comments can be used to make notes about the segment and/or your translation. They can be anything you think is relevant for others to know about the context. You may know something others don't, so always feel free to share your wisdom! It will justify your logic for others.
- Skip Button: if you do not want to translate this segment for one reason or another, that is okay! Simply click the "Skip Translation". Note, when skipping you still have the option to provide a comment.

Once a segment has been translated by one person, it moves to review stage! Each review form has 7 parts:
