@github-actions github-actions released this 22 Jul 10:09

First beta of the ZotLit v2 line. This release focuses on onboarding, upgrade guidance, and a much more usable annotation view.

✨ New: Welcome & onboarding

  • Welcome View — a first-run landing surface with a live setup timeline: Zotero connection status, note-folder picker, and a first-note search, plus quick links to the docs and community.
  • Release tracking — a once-per-launch service decides whether to open the Welcome View (fresh install or upgrade), show a durable "what's new" update notice, or stay quiet.
  • Resources strip on the setting tab (release notes, docs, help), available on both the new declarative and the compat (Obsidian < 1.13) render paths.

🔀 v1 → v2 migration help

  • In-place upgrades now surface the silent settings migration instead of leaving you guessing.
  • Upgraders who only ejected v1 templates (and never wrote a settings file) are now detected, so customized templates no longer silently fall back to built-in defaults.
  • A migration-pending reminder appears on the setting tab and Templates page until your template folder no longer holds ejected v1 files — it clears itself, no dismiss button needed.

🔎 Annotation view: search & filter

  • New search row matching text, comment, tag, and page.
  • New filter bar with color swatches, a first-tag chip, and an inline tag drawer, so you can narrow annotations without switching back to Zotero.
  • Cards default to collapsed to keep the filtered list scannable, and the view reserves status-bar clearance in every dock so the list tail is never covered.

📦 Zotero companion

  • Bumped to 2.0.0-beta.0 to stay in lockstep. No functional changes this release.
