Immutable release. Only release title and notes can be modified.

Codex Edge Glow turns a finished Codex task into a smooth animation around the physical edges of your Windows display, plus an optional top-center island with the result and quick reply.

Download

  • Most users: CodexEdgeGlow-0.1.0-win-x64.exe
  • Portable bundle: CodexEdgeGlow-0.1.0-portable.zip
  • Verification: SHA256SUMS.txt

This first release is portable and unsigned. Windows SmartScreen may show an unrecognized-app warning. Download only from this release and verify the checksum; do not obtain the executable from a re-upload.

Included

  • Four edge patterns: Comet, Dual orbit, Halo pulse, and Corner spark
  • Custom color, thickness, intensity, timing, trail length, and faint-frame controls
  • Compact and detailed island modes with dismiss, pin, overflow handling, and optional quick reply
  • Per-display enablement, insets, corner-radius calibration, multi-monitor support, and per-monitor DPI awareness
  • Persistent live preview that updates while controls change
  • Notification-area resident with open, preview, and exit actions

Compatibility

  • Tested on Windows 11
  • Portable .NET Framework 4.8 executable
  • Automatic completion events use the Codex CLI external notify hook
  • Codex Desktop and other app-server hosts may not invoke that hook consistently in every release

Trust and verification

The release workflow rebuilt and tested this tag on GitHub's hosted Windows runner. SHA-256 hashes are supplied in SHA256SUMS.txt, and GitHub build-provenance attestations cover both the executable and portable archive.

Get-FileHash .\CodexEdgeGlow-0.1.0-win-x64.exe -Algorithm SHA256
Get-Content .\SHA256SUMS.txt

Performance observations

On the reference Windows 11 system, the standalone overlay peaked at 51.9 MB working set and settings with active live preview peaked at 87.8 MB. Results vary by Windows build, GPU driver, monitor layout, and scaling.

Feedback requested

Reports from mixed-DPI, multi-monitor, high-contrast, keyboard-only, and reduced-motion users are especially useful. Please include your Windows build, monitor resolutions and positions, scaling percentages, selected pattern, and whether the Codex completion hook fired. Remove private task and desktop content from captures.
