WEB102 Prework - Gamestarter

Submitted by: Allyson Keightley

Gamestarter is a website for the company Sea Monster Crowdfunding that displays information about the games they have funded.

Time spent: 6 hours spent in total

Required Features

The following required functionality is completed:

  • The introduction section explains the background of the company and how many games remain unfunded.
  • The Stats section includes information about the total contributions and dollars raised as well as the top two most funded games.
  • The Our Games section initially displays all games funded by Sea Monster Crowdfunding
  • The Our Games section has three buttons that allow the user to display only unfunded games, only funded games, or all games.

The following optional features are implemented:

  • List anything else that you can get done to improve the app functionality!
  • A search bar was added in the header to quickly find specific games.
  • A navigation menu was added to quickly view the games with links, as well as a link to further fund the games.
  • The UI of the app was redesigned to be responsive and add a playful gaming and marine style.
    • The color theme was updated.
    • Added new font syles.
    • Made the containers more visually appealing, drawing the eye to each section easily with use of centering, horizontal rule, breaks and margins.

Notes

Describe any challenges encountered while building the app.

The main challenge that I faced while building this app was learning and implementing the spread operator. Prior to working on this, I had a basic understanding of how it works, but I have never used it in practice in this manner to target data from an array. I really enjoyed the way that concepts were taught in this challenge, especially with the Spotify app as examples. It made these concepts easy to understand and use in real life cases.
