Mac-Monologue 0.7.1
- Every take in a folder of its own. The video and its subtitle files now
sit together in~/Movies/Monologue/Monologue-<date>/, instead of all
takes and .srt files mixed in one folder. Takes recorded before stay where
they are. Discarding a take moves its whole folder to the Trash. - Nothing covers the recording any more. The preview is now a card in the
shape of the video, without black bars, and the sound fader sits in the bar
below it instead of over the corners where your bubble or you stand. - The quality is a proper button next to the summary, and the full name
of a screen, camera or microphone shows when you point at it. - ⌘1 to ⌘5 switch the mode, also in the new Mode menu.
- Text you hold up reads the right way round in the file, with any camera,
an iPhone included. The camera preview is a mirror, and now says so.
Mac-Monologue 0.7.0
- A new window. The modes sit at the top, the settings for the chosen mode
in a sidebar, and the preview - which is exactly what gets recorded - fills
the rest. The sound fader floats over the preview, and below it there is one
big red Record button. A click on the line next to it picks the quality. - On macOS 26 the window takes on Liquid Glass; on macOS 15 it keeps the
classic look. - Mac-Monologue speaks German. It follows your Mac's language: English or
German.
Mac-Monologue 0.6.0
- Screen + Green Screen, a fifth mode: you, cut out, standing in front of
your screen like a weather presenter - no bubble. Drag yourself anywhere in
the preview and set your size with the slider. - Works with a green screen behind you, for sharp edges, and without one,
using Apple's person detection. Automatic picks whichever fits and says
which it is using.
Mac-Monologue 0.5.2
- Fixed: Mac-Monologue kept the processor busy even when not recording - up
to a full core in the screen modes since 0.5.1. It now uses about a quarter
of that: roughly 12 % with the camera, 17-27 % with the screen, for the live
preview. The meters and the recording clock no longer redraw the whole
window and the menu bar item many times a second.
Mac-Monologue 0.5.1
- Set how loud your Mac is next to your voice. In the screen modes, one
fader sits between Voice and Mac sound, like a DJ's between two decks: in the
middle both are full, towards either side the other one fades. It works while
you record, too, and two small meters show what goes into the video. - Lower Mac sound while I talk: a video or music gets quieter whenever you
speak and comes back when you pause. Next to the fader, and in Settings.
Mac-Monologue 0.5.0
- Screen & Head Touch Cut, a fourth mode. With a finger on the trackpad the
screen fills the picture, with you in the bubble. Lift it, and after a moment
the video cuts to you, full frame. The cut happens while you record, so the
file needs no editing afterwards. It needs a trackpad; with a mouse it
records like Screen + Camera. - A countdown before every take: 3, 2, 1, big in the middle of the screen
and never in the recording. In Screen & Head Touch Cut it is where you choose
the first frame: finger on the trackpad, and the take opens on the screen.
Press Record again to cancel. Off, 3, 5 or 10 seconds in Settings.
Mac-Monologue 0.4.2
- Fixed: the welcome steps, opened again from the Help menu, could not be closed.
They now have a close button, and Escape closes them too.
Mac-Monologue 0.4.1
- Fixed: in the welcome steps, Continue on the subtitles page stayed greyed out
after choosing languages. - When the chosen languages need tools from Apple, that page now shows the
download and moves on by itself once it is done - or straight away with
"Continue in Background". - Opened straight from Downloads, Mac-Monologue now offers to move itself into
Applications, where updates can be installed.
Mac-Monologue 0.4.0
- Choose the quality, by what the file will weigh: Economical, Medium, High
or Very high, from about 35 MB to about 300 MB for ten minutes. Medium is the
new standard, also after this update - your videos get much smaller than
before. Change it in the main window or in Settings. - Record just the screen, without yourself in the corner: the new Screen mode.
- Subtitles (macOS 26 or later): after each take your Mac writes down what you
said and adds it as subtitles, in your language and translated into German,
English, French or Spanish. Everything happens on your Mac. Choose the
languages in Settings › Subtitles. A card shows how far it has got and how long
it will take, and you can cancel it. - Keep me in frame: follows you as you move. Cameras with Center Stage, like an
iPhone, do it themselves; for others Mac-Monologue zooms in slightly and moves
with you. Off until you turn it on. - An iPhone used as the camera is now always the right way up, whether it stands
upright or sideways. - "Mirror the recording" now warns, while it is on, that text reads backwards in
the saved file.
Mac-Monologue 0.3.2
- When the camera is connected but sends no picture - usually an iPhone that is
locked away or out of reach - the window now says so instead of staying black,
and offers to switch to another camera.
