0.4.0 — Colors, regions and Markdown annotations

Latest

Choose a tag to compare

@AlexanderT142 AlexanderT142 released this 02 Oct 20:43

New

  • Customize the four annotation palette slots with full-spectrum color pickers in Settings. Existing annotations keep their saved colors.
  • Add transparent rectangular regions linked to annotation cards in both PDF viewers. Click Region, place it on the page, then drag the outline or resize its corner. Existing tags can be converted without losing notes or identity.
  • Optional Markdown, fenced code and LaTeX previews for main and side notes, using Obsidian's native renderer. Off by default; click a preview to edit its original source. Thanks to @moritzvii for PR #7.

Fixes

  • Double-clicking inside an annotation editor now selects words normally (#8).
  • Explicitly opening another note while editing Markdown transfers focus correctly.
  • Rapid repeated zoom changes no longer leave bundled-view PDF pages blank.
  • Late asynchronous Markdown renders clean up their resources safely.

Verification

Clean lockfile install, full regression suite, typecheck, production build, and ten-page/two-set synthetic-PDF test passed. Both viewers were exercised in actual Obsidian 1.11.5 on macOS using an isolated vault, including selection, colors, region gestures/persistence, Markdown/MathJax/code, sanitizer behavior, export, zoom, and full reload. See verification details, including existing dependency-audit findings and testing limits.

The existing export fix for keeping both the full highlighted passage and its separate note was reverified (#3). No storage migration or export-format change is required.
