Firefox users should install google-goto-url-fix-firefox-1.0.2.xpi (not the Firefox ZIP). This release fixes Firefox timing out while resolving Google /goto redirects. Open the XPI in Firefox and approve Add.
Safari users should download google-goto-url-fix-safari-app-1.0.2.zip, unzip it, move Google Goto Url Fix.app to Applications, open it once, then enable the extension in Safari → Settings → Extensions. The app is Developer ID-signed and Apple-notarized.
After installation, click the toolbar icon once so its badge reads ON, then reload the Google results page.
