GAIA Code 3.3
What is GAIA Code?
GAIA Code is a Claude Code-inspired prompt system for Perplexity Spaces. It turns a plain Perplexity Space into a disciplined, agentic engineering assistant — no app to install, no runtime to host. The product is a small set of Markdown prompt files you deploy into a Space.
New in 3.3
- 🔓 Permission modes — GAIA now runs in one of two modes, persisted in
MEMORY.md:- Ask Permissions (default) — GAIA asks for approval before any write/destructive tool call.
- Bypass Permissions — GAIA executes without prompting. Toggle the modes live with the built-in commands
/dangerously-skip-permissions(switch to Bypass) and/ask-permissions(switch back). The active mode survives across turns and auto-compaction.
- Firmer PR attribution — every PR GAIA opens now reliably ends with the
🌱 Generated with [GAIA Code]footer (fixes #5), enforced at the gate level. - Standardized tool-input summaries — consistent
[{Tool Name}] {…}formatting for clearer approval prompts.
The four engines
- Gate / skill engine —
SYSTEM_INSTRUCTIONS.mdis pasted into your Space's Instructions box. It activates GAIA, raises the per-message tool budget, and powers slash-command skills: send/<name>and GAIA loads the matching uploaded file. - System prompt —
SYSTEM_PROMPT.mddefines GAIA's identity, tool philosophy, dependency/version-pinning discipline, security posture, and engineering principles. - Memory & plan engine —
MEMORY_ENGINE.mdgives the Space persistent memory (MEMORY.md) and a real planning loop (PLAN.md/TASKS.md): explore → plan → approve → execute, surviving across turns and compaction. - Turn engine —
TURN_ENGINE.mdbudgets each turn: context estimation, a generous tool-call allowance, and commit batching so the agent does meaningful work without blowing past limits.
