Fumble 1.0.1

  • New icon — a tilted keycap traced in pixel squares, light blue.
  • Stop-until-correct is now the default for "On a wrong key" on new installs — a wrong key holds the cursor until you hit the right one, which is what actually retrains a finger. Existing installs keep their chosen setting; change it any time in Settings.
  • First-run intro — the practice window now opens with a short explainer of the three non-obvious behaviours: lessons are pre-aimed from your real typing, nothing autocorrects past a wrong key, and drill typing never touches your daily stats. Re-open it any time from the ? in the practice header.

Signed and notarized. Requires macOS 14+.

brew install --cask alexiscodingbits/fumble/fumble

Fumble 1.0.0

A typing coach that already knows what you're bad at.

Typing tutors make you grind synthetic drills for hours before they learn anything about you. Fumble watches how you actually type all day — in your editor, terminal, everywhere — and works out which keys and transitions genuinely cost you time. Then it drills exactly those.

Highlights

  • No cold start — the adaptive trainer seeds from your real typing; letters you're already fast at start mastered, and lesson one targets a real weakness
  • Honest numbers — pastes, autocomplete, injected keystrokes, autorepeat, thinking pauses, and Fumble's own practice window are all excluded (and the exclusions are shown, not hidden)
  • Five practice modes — adaptive trainer, weak-spot drills, custom text, numbers, code
  • Stats that mean something — keyboard speed heatmap, weak keys ranked by time lost, per-app breakdown, daily speed trend
  • Private by construction — records which keys and when, never the characters; no ordered keystroke sequence exists on disk; nothing leaves your Mac (no network code at all); everything lives in plain JSON you can read yourself
