Watchlist and Browse

alexphillips-dev edited this page Sep 11, 2026 · 4 revisions

Use Browse to find products in the selected regional Store and Watchlist to manage what you monitor. Regions keep separate watches, prices, activity, and health. Browser filters change what you see; they do not stop server monitoring.

Background refreshes (current dev)

The dashboard reuses unchanged cards and dropdown options during background refreshes, preserving selection, keyboard focus, scroll position, and unsaved notification preferences. Concurrent dashboard refreshes share the current request; an explicit action requests a follow-up when needed. Responses overtaken by a saved edit or region switch are discarded.

Hidden browser tabs defer catalog work and refresh when visible again. If browser notifications are permitted, a lightweight event check continues while the page runs, subject to browser background throttling. Server monitoring and external notification delivery remain independent of the browser. Activity offers new entries without moving the page being read. These improvements are in the current dev checkout, not the published v1.2.0 downloads.

Browse products

Browse uses illustrated category tiles, larger product previews, and a filter sidebar that folds into a Filters panel on mobile. Combine availability and Watching / Not watched with search, then sort by name, price, or availability. Search also finds exact variant SKUs; watching an exact variant marks its parent card Watching. Cards show variant counts and a From price when all current variants have known prices; incomplete variant pricing shows Prices vary and sorts after known prices. Prices describe the selected regional catalog, including sold-out options, and are not checkout totals. Your browser remembers Browse filters and sorting; Reset filters clears them together. Category tiles support Left/Right arrows, Home, and End.

Open a product image or name for its availability, variant options, Store link, first/last-seen timestamps, recent changes, and stock/price insights. GearBeacon reads public catalog information and opens the Store for purchasing; it does not sign in to Ubiquiti or automate checkout.

Watch an exact variant

Open a product from Browse and use Watch a specific variant to choose a SKU, color, length, or pack size. Any variant keeps the original product-level watch behavior. Each exact variant has its own history and confirmation evidence; a selected variant can restock even while another remains available. Variant choices depend on the public regional catalog. Explicit ?variant= Store links and known variant SKUs retain their selection during import; an unknown explicit variant is reported for review.

Choose Watchlist or a collection

Browse cards and product details offer Add to Watchlist or collection. Choose Any variant or an exact variant, then Watchlist, an active collection, or + New collection. Desired quantities belong to collection memberships. Adding a watched product reuses its existing watch and saved rules, including a purchase or pause setting; a new project membership starts with zero purchased units. If it already belongs to the destination, the picker says so and keeps its existing quantity and payments. Adding the watch and membership is one transaction. Archived collections must be restored before using them as Browse destinations.

Collections share the underlying watch and rules. A watch assigned to two projects remains one watch. Choosing both an Any variant watch and an exact variant watch creates two independently monitored identities. See Collections to group assigned items inside project cards.

Import existing lists

Select Import watchlist (under Manage in the current dev checkout), paste Store URLs or product SKUs/slugs, or choose a TXT, CSV, or JSON file. Review the regional matches before confirming the addition. Explicit Store ?variant= links and known exact SKUs keep their selected variant; an unknown explicit variant is shown for review instead of silently changing it to the parent product.

The preview lets you resolve unmatched or ambiguous entries before saving. A watchlist import adds watches; a full recovery import in Settings > Data has a different purpose and should follow the recovery guide.

Search, filters, and bulk actions

Combine Watchlist search with status, collection, category, and sort controls. Select visible watches acts on the items currently shown. The bulk toolbar supports actions such as pausing, resuming, removing, or adding selected watches to an existing/new collection. Grouped-away members are not individually selected by a visible-watch selection.

The browser remembers view preferences. Reset filters clears the filtering state but keeps the Group items in collections preference. Use View items on a collection or select it in the collection filter to reveal its members.

Understand overview counts

The Watchlist overview counts unique watches with remaining demand across active projects, plus uncollected watches that are not marked purchased. Ready to buy requires confirmed availability and any saved target; At target price is the subset with a saved target met by that same available variant. Collection membership quantities determine remaining demand, even if the shared watch is marked purchased for an earlier project. Collections ready counts active collections with every remaining item qualifying. Pausing alerts does not hide a purchase opportunity. Pending stock evidence, pending prices relevant to a target, and stale monitoring coverage are excluded. Counts describe this store, independent of the current search and filters. Clicking a summary clears other filters; clicking it again or Reset filters restores the normal view. The selected overview filter is remembered in this browser.

Purchased versus project purchase records

Purchased retains the watch, its rules, and its history while stopping subsequent alerts and cancelling its pending or failed delivery jobs. A delivery already in progress may finish. Still wanted restores the saved rules, including any existing pause. Use the Purchased or Still wanted status filters to review these items. These watch-level actions also mark all desired units purchased in each active containing collection, or reset those active purchase quantities and costs when returning to Still wanted. Archived purchase records are preserved. Use Record purchase inside a collection to track a purchase only for that project; its shared watch and other projects keep their own state.

Rules and history

Use a watch's Alert rules for targets, event choices, and pauses. Alerts and notifications explains how these interact with collection overrides. Stock insights explains confirmed prices, observed availability, and unknown history.

Named views and compact Watchlist (current dev checkout)

These controls are in the current development checkout and are not in the published v1.2.0 download.

The Watchlist toolbar keeps search, status, collection, and sorting visible. View options opens category, layout, collection grouping, and saved views in a panel below the controls. Manage groups collection management, watchlist import, and Select visible watches; selecting items reveals the bulk-action bar. Browse puts View options beside sorting. These panels expand within the page without covering products or other controls. Escape, leaving the panel with keyboard focus, or clicking outside closes them; opening a dialog from a panel returns focus to its visible toggle when dismissed.

  • Set your filters and sorting, then open View options > Save view and enter a name. Select it from Saved view to apply it. Current filters means the visible settings do not match a saved view. Applied saved views, category filters, and Compact list are summarized below the Watchlist toolbar so hidden settings remain apparent.
  • Manage views lets you rename or delete a view. In Edit, select Replace with the filters currently shown behind this dialog to save different filters; leaving it unchecked only changes the name.
  • Watchlist views retain search, status, category, sorting, collection, overview filter, grouping, and Cards / Compact list layout. Browse views retain search, category, availability, Watching/Not watched, and sorting.
  • The installation stores up to 30 views per regional Store across Watchlist and Browse. They are available to the owner on other browsers/devices and are included in database backups and recovery exports. Applying a view is a per-browser action; another device is not forced into that view.
  • Simultaneous edits are checked against the saved revision. If another device changes a view, reopen it before saving. Deleted-collection views display an explanation; choose valid filters and replace the view's filters.
  • Compact list keeps thumbnails, prices, availability, collection membership, alert summaries, and actions visible. It applies to collection cards too and adapts to narrow screens. Changing views never changes watches, purchases, or alert rules.

Saved view names and search terms are private owner data. Support bundles exclude them; recovery exports include them, so protect exports like other watchlist data.
